Super Jet wear rings

does anyone use the wsm impellar housing with the replacable wear ring or is it smarter to just buy an oem housing. my rn has a million miles on it and rattles like a s.o.b and pretty sure its the housing. the splines on the shaft are also alittle loose but if packed it with grease for now. iv been running it for 2years every weekend so its time to replace parts instead of being stranded. so let me know about housing and imellar housing if you have any info. thanks

ok there is also the sbt one also. come on guys iv read older posts. im not in salt but maybe 5 times a year. iv heard that the plastic linears have the chance of spinning.

wsm is fine. im running one and i think mcdog has run them too. no issues hear. only in salt once though.

im only curious because they can be rebuilt with new wear ring. the cost of a oe one is really not a big issue its just that you can rebuild the sbt one.

I sell a lot of these and also use them myself, never had a single comeback and never sold a replacement insert.
Chris.

ok thanks alote. im just trying to find the best or good pruduct to get. if a stock one or replacement one onlky last a year or 2 then great. but it seems that they all last quiet awhile so any of them are good to me just wanted the feed back from everybody. im just a curious jetskier that tries to not just buy because its the cool thing. i want to know why its cool or is it just because mr badass said it was. no thanks. i think im going to try a sbt one and if it goes south then hey i learned a lesson. thanks for the imput guys, it really helps out the little people.

I found out that Skat charges 267.00 to bore a stock housing and install a SS liner that is aprox twice as thick...it might not bubble for 10 years or never, who knows. Riva sell the solid SS housing for the 155mm...

Solas also makes the solid stainless 144mm wear rings YB-HS-144 but they cost near 299.00.

My 2 cents:

The oem ss wear rings work well and last a long time. Proper cleaning after saltwater use is critical to help prevent corrosion swelling between the aluminum housing and the ss liner. Oem 'wear rings' dont really wear much as sand and debris is passed though the pump because most wear comes from the outer edge of the impeller. Over time this impeller wear causes power loss and impellers need outer edges rewelded back to original size again.

Aftermarket(a/m) wear rings made by wsm and sbt have a replaceable inner plastic liner. No worries about saltwater corrosion issues with them and are the clear choice for salt use by less than diligent flushers.

These wear rings do 'wear' over time because the plastic is softer than the ss of your impeller. Your impeller should wear less (saving expensive redos) but liner will need to be changed periodically depending on how much sand, etc. is passed through your pump to keep performance at peak.

The SBT Dupont delrin liner is superior to the plastic wsm liner and can be used to replace the liner in wsm housings.

Chris, real good info there from your experienced observations and I agree with above and also believe that if a good sealant like 1211 is applied to both ends of the impellar housing before install that it seals the entry point of saltwater between the oem ss sleeve and the housing.

I think that would probably help make an oem last longer.

I have a WSM wear ring and I do like it for racing, as I can change the ring out for a new one and the clearances are super tight again. But as people have mentioned before, they wear out very easy if you are playin with alot of sand in the water. You gotta be diligent about flushing your pump and shaking it out after beaching your ski.
