Yup, been there between this and last year. Ended up being a slowly dying CDI for me but the coil tested faulty as well. Do a coil test first and go from there. If it tests out alright you may need to consider the CDI. In addition to my great week this week, my ski started acting up again and did a mini-seize during a high speed run. It freed up and allowed me a final 1/2 hour of fun before I chose to trailer it and take it home. Turns out my crank bearings finally cashed in their chips. The PTO bearing cage was worn enough that I could wobble it left to right on the bearing with noticeable movement. Not to mention the growly sounds between it and the two center bearings. When the crank bearings wear out, they allow the crank to move up and down inside the seals opening an air gap which will wreak havoc on carburetion tuning. If you notice that opening the high speed mixture screw helps, you may want to also consider inspecting the crank seals and possibly the crank bearings. The way I see it for my situation, the ski ran for virtually 20 years having never seen a single rebuild, still on stock bore and still in great shape in the cylinders...the ski doesn't owe me anything. It certainly is not fun being in the heat of the season with a downed ski but thanks to JetManiac I will be back up and running in another 3-4 days with a newly rebuilt crank. The ski has put up with enough, it's time to show it some appreciation
