Weird steering issue

So my sons fx1 has a weird issue. The bars get harder to turn the more gas you give it. For a 70lb kid it isn’t ideal..

has brand new steering cable that’s free as can be..doesn’t rub on anything

fresh bearings in steering system

no excessive slop in nozzle..it’s modded for quick steer and I ground the sides of steering nozzle to clear reduction nozzle but not enough that’s it’s getting blow by

running stock rideplate with r&d scoop grate.

Not really sure what it could be..any suggestions? It turns,
It’s just harder to turn the bars. He’s at the point where he’s doing turns on the wave when it’s steep and trying to bash the whitewater but he has to let off and slow down to be able to crank the bars and finish his turn which messes up his timing.

I have nothing to add other than I wish I was bashing lips at 70 pounds.

I’m 190 and all I do is bash coors light to my own lips and work nowadays.

He’s gonna be mad I uploaded this..he told me not to film since he was just clearing out his motor after sinking first thing when we got there. Then he started having electrical problems..he’s never had to negotiate that much whitewater before..was actually some solid set waves..but he did good. Not easy conditions. He’s ridden big waves on his 550 but it was clean and there was an escape route..

I love playing in the "kiddie pool" whitewater! He's doing Great! Got a good teacher!

He's doing great, I wish I had waves like that to ride on! For the steering issue, I have a similar situation on my WB1, with stock ground nozzle and a pretty radical quick steer mod, but being an adult with full size MX bars and only a stock engine it is manageable. My thought is that there's some friction in the nozzle pivot, which shows up when combined with the extra leverage the nozzle has with the quick steer. I wonder if sealed (maybe ceramic?) bearings in the nozzle pivot would help. Try some marine grease in it and see if it works better while it lasts.

Turning the telescope around for a minute and looking at things from a different angle.
Is it possible that the steering has too little friction?
Along with allot of power?
For instance, I am amazed that we can even turn a nozzle which is shooting out that much pressure, much like bending/redirecting a fire hose which wants to return to straight.
What if you tried, for giggles, stiffening up the handle bar pivot on the handle pole?

Stock motor and pipe so I don’t think that could be the case. In comparison to mine it’s way down on power and the steering setup is identical aside from the different fx nozzle. But I know what you mean..usually very easy to direct that much fast moving water…seems like it shouldn’t be.

at the speed he’s riding in the vid it feels like it should..but when you really hammer the throttle it stiffens up. He’s learned to ride with it but it definitely isn’t right.

I’ve heard of people making a hole in the ride plate like those worx ride plates but I’m not sure why..

having to replace the starter selenoid has me regretting not building him a square nose. This thing is not fun to work on. Can barley get your hands in there let alone a wrench.

At this point i have to suspect it's the cable. Have to tired holding the nozzle one way and turning the bars the other to simulate the load on it? See what feels different on that and on your ski. I imagine there's some kind of light binding that only shows up with a load.
