Is there significant gain to be had by the pro lights. how much weight are we talking here.. is there any other things to be said about these pistons ?

They didnt save as much on Kawasakis, about an ounce. Two ounces for 701 Yamahas. Pro-lites came out 20 years ago, they expanded a lot and skirts didnt hold up well. They are fine with plenty of clearance and a working rev limiter. Wiseco stopped making them, their current pistons are just as heavy as stock.

Stay with the stock yamaha pistons. Ive always heard good things with the stock pistons, not as good results with prolites and weisco pistons. Infact I have heard bad things about weisco pistons in watercraft.
Now im talking about stock bore range size pistons. If you go big bore, maybe someone else will chime in and cover the BB pistons.

Well they expanded a bit at first, depending how hard you rode, then if they had not caused a seizure they would shrink somewhat unpredictably making for good piston slap. Some would beak them in using a cylinder with .006" clearance , then transfer them to a cyl. with less clearance for actual use. Guess I never could take a joke well, won't use Wiseco products to this day, which of course limits me to to 85.5mm piston size.

I have used Wisecos on 2 motors now and did not have issues...BUT...Wami and a lot of long timers say NO WAY....

And FWIW I live by them and over the years have visited to fix computers and every single ancient person working inside that place is a dik or a wench! Grumpy old a holes and the place looks like crap and like it is about to close the doors any minute...lol...

I won't be using them ever again.

Pro-X from now on.

Yha I don't think a ounce would be noticeable maybie 4 total on a yami but not 2 on a kawi.. my buddy said he had some in a 701 and it was real snappy.. I missed the auction for a weisco prolite set for 125 and it just had me wondering..
