Sawzall FTW! I can do most anything I need with my sawzall. As posted above though, a cutoff wheel on a grinder, or air powered die grinder will be very precise. Even smaller and you can use a dremel with cutoff wheels, I've had to do that in some tight spaces. I haven't tried a bandsaw yet, haha. Good idea though. I have a portable band saw, that would have worked great for some of the cuts on my ski.
I should add that my sawzall is very smooth, I tried using my dads oldschool makita AC powered sawzall a while back and it about shook me to death, no way could I do anything with it. I use a 6-7 year old dewalt 18V sawzall, very smooth. Just bought my Dad a new dewalt setup for X-mas. I've heard the quality has gone down in them recently, but his new ones seem very solid. I guess time will tell.
