Super Jet What do you guys think about this plugs

Hi Guys,

what do you think about this plugs reading,

pls comment.

i can only get half dry carbon black and half greyish white.
or
all around is white.
cant get brown tan color.

it is 2010 superjet 701, with b-pipe limited, and changing main jet to 135 and 95gram spring, pilot is stock(70). and the rest is stock.

pls advise

looks lean to me also. whats the other plug look like?

Thanks guys for the reply.
I did read in the main jet and see 135. Also, i open the high speed up to 1 3/4, and its still look like that, but the down side is, the ski will blubbrry during 1/4 throttle or cruising wth sudden full scceleration,
So i end up wth 1 5/8 on my high speed adjuster.( between 1 1/2 and 1 3/4), and the ski pull hard wthout blubbery.
The other plugs look the same.
I didnt take the plug pictures on the right side of the ceramic, its look dry black color.

Is it normal to have half clean and half black? Should i put my stock main jet to test it out?
here is another pictures rear plugs.

How much fuel has been run on these plugs? They look a little lean to me as well. Do you have a tach that you could put on the ski? What does your piston wash look like?

It run about almost 2 tank. Unfortunately I don't have tach, since it is difficult to buy one here in Thai. I didnt know how to look at piston wash. But I look once and it's all black on piston surface( using flash light).

The problem is I already open up to the rich point until the ski blubbery, but the plug still look half whitegreyish and half carbon black. 1 3/4 turn to 2 turn on high speed and still half whitegreyish, half black carbon dry.
Helppp

Thanks again.

I don't know how to help about tuning but your boat is FASTERrrrrrr than mine. I'll also need to tune my carbs to beat you on the topend too. LOL

:),,it is faster but your boat have a sick bottom end. anyway, this has me worry so much as my plug reading is half dry black and half white greyish, and my jetting is as recommended and low and high speed adjuster is in high side. really dont know what to do and im affraid my engine will seized/lock :((

anyway,,are you going to play this sunday?

How are you riding before you pull the plug? Generally speaking, plug reading is only good for high speed tuning on our engines because idle and low speed circuits are generally way too rich for any accurate readings. Typically, if the ski blubbers off the line, your low speed circuit is to blame. If it's clean on the bottom but blubbers when you nail the throttle while cruising, the high speed circuit is to blame. Forget plug reading until you have fairly smooth power. Once the power feels clean, then you can do a high speed test where you ride wide open for 15-30 seconds and immediately hit the stop button and yank the plugs as soon as possible to get your readings.

On a side note, reading plugs and piston wash has only done me wrong. Last engine I tried to read that stuff on sent me on a wild goose chase that took a week to fix and I didn't even change jets.

Hi Waternut,,
I did wot run for 15 sec for 2 round ( going 1 way and going back) cause the lake I ride is not very long and took me 15 sec 1 way for end to end run. Then I pull the key and I let it go to the docking. Then pull the plugs.

So I shouldn't worry about the plug reading as long as my ski run good?
A side note: my spec in the carb is as recommended by factory pipe, and the low n high speed tuning is also on the rich side.

Thx

Well plugs can help you tune but they aren't the magic ticket that will tell if the engine is running properly or not. I've used plugs to determine if the engine is rich or lean when I couldn't tell but it looks like your plugs are reading funny so I wouldn't base anything off of them.

i did try to put a used plug once( plugs from my ski when its stock pipe, and color is brown tan), and try it, it cleans the plugs abit but not very white.
this is happen since i put a b-pipe on.
should i change my pilot to 75?

also this is my 3rd new plug, i did 2 new plug test and its the same.
i read somewhere abt plug reading mention that "read the base ring on the plug", not the porcelin as now the fuel have lots of addective?.
but why when my ski stock, the plug is nice brown tan and i have been using the same gasoline and same oil mix at 40:1 (yamalube)
i know my plugs reading is weird,,,:((((
should i forget it and ride as long as my ski perform well,, i have been adjusting my ski since and its been 6 months, but play only 2-3 times a month. this drive me crazyyyy !!!!
thx
