What do you personally look for in a foothold?

JGringo

When in doubt, Throttle-out.
When you are looking for footholds/footwells, what do you look for? Do you like a little play where your foot can slip out? What factors make you choose the footholds that you do?

All the feedback will help and might produce some new radical footholds. I already have a pretty good idea what they will be like. They are not anything like what is out right now, and no fiberglassing work will be required (though it may help)... :shhh:

So, what style riding do you like and how tight, loose, small, big, angled, etc. do you like your footholds/wells? :beerchug:

I wanted two things. I wanted my foot to be almost locked in and I wanted ankle clearance so they don't chafe against the side.

Fiberglassing was the easy part. You can certainly use the cheap readily available polyester resin for footholds so it's quick and easy.

i look for ease of installation. i like footholds that are long because my pole is short and i like riding in the front of the tray.

I use the ATP footholds, feel really nice, smooth clean edges help turfing no end too. Easy to install, great quality and at a good price IMO.
They fit snug and i dont ever feel like im gonna break something when using them.

Mine are the original composite versions but they now come in injection moulded plastic so the quality is about as good as it gets.
