what exactly makes the sj better than the sx

Well I have both and they are 650s I wanted to know before I start dumping money into my sj sn 91. cause my sx rides amazing I can do so some pretty tight figure 8s and jump it just fine. Like are we talking dodge and ford hear or is there something that backs up the reason why people like super jets more? Cause the only think I know is that the sj weighs like 40lbs less if I'm correct

The pump! It's all about getting the power to the water. A Kawi motor makes more power hands down but everyone thinks yami skis have more power because the pumps and platform is that much better.

It depends what you want to do. Back when racing included slalom the SJ was a turd compared to 750s. Once slalom went away the SJ became popular because it was easier to ride in a long closed course race. Here and now it is all about thrust and response at low speeds, the SJ delivers more in this area.

Superjets are lighter, they have a better power to weight ratio and they produce better low end power where you need it most. Kawis produce there power from mid to top end, and few people ride around at full throttle, at least not for very long so the Super jet excels in the areas most of us use the most.

like everyone is saying all depends on what you are looking to do, personally i think the 750 hull's are junk and not as stable as my SJ. The 650's are complete tanks and i say that because i rode surf for 2 years with mine until i upgraded. Personally i think the SJ's are easier to ride, more stable, turn and hook up better, and are just build solid. Never have any problems with mine until you really beat on them.

Just my opinion.

Gonna say the same I have ridden and parted a few 650s and never liked them. Bought a SN and I smiled from ear to ear for days after I first rode it. 650 to 650 you really can't compare. Put a 701 into your SN and you will see why everyone speaks volumes of the SJ.

It's because yamaha parts are super expensive and hard to come by,the hulks break and take a ton of time and money to reinforce and defoam and rebuild, the stock motors suck balls and have to be modified before they are any fun to ride, the motors ting so hard that you constantly gave to wrench on them and they will rip pipe mounts off anything that bolts to the cylinder....with that said...after you install footholds put a head and pipe, prop and reinforce the inside of the hull.... Miles ahead of kawi,my name is Russell and I've been a kawi guy for 20 years but after owning 1 superjet I'm hooked and am a full blown crack head...ride a 760 round nose with a mag pump 1 time and all your kawi stuff will be for sale in the morning

I have a 550/650 swap and love it. Ridden a few 750 that were okay. Rode a few rn sj's and I liked it. Finally got a chance to ride a square nose and I fell in love with the ski. I'm getting one in a few weeks, and I'm not even concerned about rebuilding my swap I blew up Labor Day weekend because I like the sn that much better.

i couldn't agree more that ski was way fast and scared the crap out of me.. I rode that other guys RN that weekend with the dual 46 novi's and type 9 dry pipe with mag pump and that thing screamed but i could hold it WO and not be as scared hahaha that kawi is just too unpredictable, i don't know how Chris Macclugage did it for so many years hahah

Back in the day I got to ride a 650sx that had a big 750 topend on it,pre 750 era with mrd injection but it had a 550 handpole on it...thing was an animal and you could lean the thing over and rail on it, I remember the tray was notched from front to back on both sides like a super long foot hold, can't remember if the guy said it was a goodtimes ski or an ocean pro but either way it was kick azz...... For 1989

that's the 650's and i have ridden both stock and personally the SJ feels much better than the 650, plus the SJ isn't as annoying as the 650 and it handles better hands down.
