What footholds you prefer/recommend?

I like the adjustables like the rrp or tigercraft. Much easier to turf too haha. They have their drawbacks though as you have to kick straight in where as the fixed type are easier to kick in more duck footed but are not adjustable without adding more padding. I got my adjustable holds from tigercraft

I really like the rrp ninja adjustable holds. Very comfortable to kick into and form fitting. Only drawback is if you miss your kick, you might break your toe (learned that from experience). I also like my dvx holds if you want to go the non adjustable route.

Toby foot holds are great! Good for large feet or pad them down a size with turf. Also, He makes a large hold with extended channel forward to the bulkhead more wide tray space on your toes

I've got them in my RN and SN, and if I ever decide to chop open the FX1, it'll get WaterCraft Factory ones as well. I think the RRPs or Tigercraft adjustables would just take up too much room in the puny tray of an FX1, if you leave the tray stock width.
Yes, the tray on the FX-1 is way narrower than even a SN SJ. Are these what you are talking about? Any photos of these installed on any ski?

SXIPro thank you for the photos!
Are they ABS (which I don't know if fiberglass will adhere to?)
Or are they fiberglass?
Are those screws or rivets holding the footholds in? And did you glass over them?

Did you consider and reject the Tom21 footholds before installing the Water Craft Factory Footholds?
If so, why?

If you aren't going to backflip. You don't need, nor do you want foothold.

I do not use footholds. At all. I'm hella duck footed. They don't work with how I stand. Very uncomfortable. I run a tight pole. And use the interia of me attached to the ski, to keep my planted.

My profile pic 20 ft up in the air upside down is surf stance. No foot holds at all. You will become a MUCH better rider if you avoid that dumper jumper stance. And ride surf stance all the time, every time.

https://www.x-h2o.com/threads/answers-to-most-your-footholds-install-questions-beta.963/ is some good reading on install methodology.

As far as why I chose them, the first RN I owned came with them already installed and I liked them, so I've used them ever since on any skis I've installed footholds in. And as far as Sparkplugs comments....uggh. I don't ride around with both feet in the footholds. I use them along with a front foothold when I feel it gives me an advantage depending on what I'm doing.

@SXIPro Thank you Buddy!

@Sparkplug Thank you Buddy!

I love all you guys and gals, and since he is local I look forward riding with @Sparkplug someday. Even though I suck as a rider.

To @Sparkplug and to everybody else. I really appreciate your contrarian view. I like to hold the object in my mind's eye and try to imagine all the various facets and gather some preliminary understanding before I make a decision or try a new movement. So, Sparkplug's non-use of footholds is really, really, really interesting. Don't you all have to admit?

@Sparkplug so in your profile photo are you pushing inline with the pole to the bracket to keep pressure on your feet against the tray while inverted? If you wouldn't mind explaining how you do what you are doing I would appreciate it.

Here's my deal. I have long skinny feet. I broke my ankle playing touch/tag Catholic League football in grammar school. I fell and helicoptered my front foot in a two binding waterski set up which tore one complete tendon and partially another and chipped my talus. When I windsurfed allot I used Dakine straps which I love for windsurf boards, but I had them adjusted tight across the toes not high up on my arch so I could release in a fall (ever had the fin build up so much cavitation that it releases in a microsecond and the board tail spins downwind?). I swam competitively as a child and some say that made my ankles very flexible and, thus, weak and thus subject to injury.

So, between you all and me, if I could substitute a learned technique instead of footholds, I would really appreciate it.

And just for fun between all us jet skiing enthusiasts. I am a Trump voter. I love him like I love @Sparkplug for what he has done and can do to deepen the knowledge pool here and to hopefully improve my personal riding. I could give a flip about Trump's tweets or @Sparkplug's sometime abrasive posts. I don't care about the messenger's attitude if the information will propel my progress forward.

Thank you for all your help. Keep it coming. And @Sparkplug even though I use a primer (because admittedly I have not yet learned to properly tune) I am really stoked to hear your description of inversions without footholds!

Now typically I wouldn’t give out a piece of competition winning information like this.. but since you’re a nice fella I’ll pass this along…

What you want to do is get yourself a nice pair of crocs (you can opt for the ones with individual toes if you’re a freak) , name brand dont cheap out, and a stick of purple Elmer’s glue.
Glue them to the tray in the stance of your choice.
Congrats, you now have the ultimate footholds. Unparalleled comfort and security.
If you’re REALLY getting crazy you can even engage the rear straps.
Be careful though, any women that see these bad boys on your ski will practically throw themselves at you (it gets old).
