WHAT IS THE BEST OPTION FOR SCUPPER FLAPS

I want to buy a new scupper flap for a build and wonder what everyone has been using these days!?

I have owned and installed several brands over the years and have had relatively good luck overall with most of them. I know the rubber flap gives out over a period of time and will have to be replaced at some point, but that's ok.This is a flatwater boat,so not going to the surf with it.

Oh and let me mention to all the naysayers out there the first rule "Never trust a scupper".l know that,so let's leave all of those comments for another day.More interested in hearing what scupper will work better than the next.

Only ones I have had any luck with are ball valve scuppers and I have tried several including the epic with the magnets on the flap.

I have had very good luck wih the Epic. Just plan on changing out the rubbers as needed.
Very little leakage.

I've known the Rickter ones fail but mine lasted 3 years before i sold the ski. I have a Thrust plug now and that seems pretty good however it doesn't drain as quickly as the flap type.

X-metal flap has done well in my freak, ostensibly since Tem built it in 2011. The screws which hold the flap to the aluminum plate must not be overtightened, otherwise it angles the flap so as to not seal properly.

@Jr was wondering about the Epic. The magnet seems like a good idea.l have had several Xscream flaps and they all seemed to work well. Also,l like the Thrust ball scupper.Looks to be a good product

I had the waterdawg flap style on my old SJ hull. I liked it alot, no issues. It drained water really fast, just also took in alot when the skis upside down.
Same story with my Rickter flap scupper, love it, dumps lots of water but also gulps alot when skis upside down.

This project hull i picked up has the old original blowsion recessed scupper with 1 way valve. It looks solid but I dont have the hull finished to test it yet. One thing i immediately hated about it tho was I couldnt wash all the crud out my hull by pushing it all out the scupper. The whole mess got stuck and hung up on the valve. Took alot of hosing to get it all dislodged.

So I would also add 1 + to having flap style scupper is ease of cleaning your engine bay out.

Rickter-brand new on my edge leaked like a sieve (btw, told that's how they work o_O). Replaced with thrust ball set up. I prefer it over the x-metal, but I thought we were talking solely flaps here.
