Freestyle What oil to use in pump?

I saw something a while back and couldn't find it. Instead of using grease, some have used oil in their pumps. Curious what type of oil and how much did you guys fill it?

Just curious. I know grease is fine, but If I can free the pump up a bit more, that'd be shweet.

Thanks fellas!

I remember the mid shaft oil too, but somewhere recently I read of guys running oil in the pumps. I'll look and see what oil seadoo uses, just for grins. I'd like to try it and see how it works. I had a machine shop press my bearings in for me. Still considering lube, but it's going to be a bitch getting enough lube in now. Then I read on how under lubing is just as bad as overlubing. Shear and other stuff can damage bearings due to grease pressures n other crap. Oil seems to be such a simple way to get it done. It will always coat the bearings etc... Blablabla... God hates a sissy! I'm trying some oil out. Bearings n seals are cheap.

More recent Seadoo pumps use grease. Oil-filled pumps have not been used in them for years.

we used royal purple and ATF in pumps a couple times......

works good, just sucks in coming across a pump that you dont know has been oiled...then all that nasty crap dumps all over you and your workbench
