What should I do with new hood and footholds? Wait?

I am getting waterdawg hood and footholds this week. I am planning on stripping the ski down in the winter, and repainting, truffing, pretty much everything. So here is my questions. Should I wait to install the hood and footholds for the winter when I re-do the ski? Or should I go ahead and install them and have fun before the winter gets here. On the footholds, can i leave them without truf? I don't want to spend the money to make it look good, when I am going to make it look good in a few months. Any thought? thanks!

i mean... u can ride without turf but ur feet and shins are gonna take a beating. as far as the hood goes, if its gonna have paint or gelcoat on it when u get it, i dont see why u couldnt run it. i guess the smartest thing to do (if u cant spend the $$ to turf it now then turf again a few months from now) is to slap the hood on now and do holds. later. but really, a sheet of b-stock isnt that much. do them footholds now and get it out of the way.

I think most people delay until winter so they don't have to be w/o a ski to ride. If you can do the job quickly, get some b-stock and have fun with those holds now. That's what I would do but I can't do the holds in a week.

Depends how long your season lasts...I know for us up here it is nearing the end....if it was me I would just wait and do it properly all at once. Plus it will give you something to look forward to until next season. But if you still have a few months left to ride than it is upto to you.

ride now and do it up in the off season... it will give you time to do it up right and ask a lot of questions...

Ditto, as much as I want to do mine now, I will wait until probably December. I need to re-inforce the hull, some repairs and refoaming, paint, yada yada........anyway. I also plan to modify the rev holds to clear my ankles better so no pressure is on them, Suva has bruises there also.:pat:

REV holds may take a bit more than a few hours for a first-timer. I would drop your hood on, and finish out the season. Do the holds over winter so you are not rushed and make sure things are done properly, doing things twice just because you wanted it done NOW is no fun.

i would say if you're new to doing this sort of work, wait to do the holds until winter, so you can take your time to do them correctly. If you've done these sort of jobs before, then hit now.

Like BK said, footholds only takes a few hours to do, if you've done them before...

My first set I did over the winter cuz i was nervous about cutting up my ride season. now i don't mind doing big jobs during the ride season that were once deemed winter projects. Plus, it makes me more pumped to get back out and ride right away and try out the new stuff.

all personal preference though...
