What steering cable for 144 mod

Did the cut and weld 144 pump but not sure what cable and nozzle options are working successfully. Tried the stock cable but it wont turn equally right and left. Used the stock FX nozzle and made cutouts so it would turn far enough, but have another shorter stock SJ nozzle if that will perform better. Not sure what the dynamics will be of shorter vs. longer. Will be a surf only set up. Any guidance from experienced converts will be greatly appreciated.

I used a stock SN SJ cable and I used a Schmidty 08+ SJ steering bracket on a stock fx1 pole, works great. Not sure if Schmidty still makes them though

Pick up a coupling nut and some stainless All Thread from your local hardware store. Cut the All Thread to fit.

On my FX-1, I run a yamaha raider exit nozzle with kawi X2 trim ring and steering nozzle.

great ideas, thanks. I'm still wondering what the ride difference would be of a shorter (superjet) nozzle vs the longer FX nozzle that's cut to fit. May have access to a raider nozzle so might take that route, I've heard of someone else that did that.

Stock FX nozzle fit on but took a little cutting off the sides and chamfering the inside for it to turn smoothly. Any clean way to put a bilge suction line back into the reduction nozzle? My "race oriented" buddy that welded my pump took the stock suction pipe out and filled in the void! Didn't really want to have to weld up another rear section unless I have to but I'm thinking it's too much stress/pressure there to simply epoxy another pipe/tube in.

Stock fx nozzle bore is too small for 144 pump?

I was trying to say that the fx steering nozzle is sized for the smaller fx pump so i think that it is probably way too small in diameter to use with the larger sj pump. You can make it physically bolt on but may not be a good choice.

Reviving an old thread, but I have the same question... What steering cable will work for the 144 pump tunnel conversion? Im using pre-08 stock superjet length driveshaft, RRP handlepole that will be shorter than stock.
