What to put on the rails

I curretly have stock rails on the sj but they are getting ugly, i dont want to turf them cause i dont feel like turfing or dealing with the turf falling off. Is there something that would work like car trim or something. Other wise anybody got some good condition stock rail?

I totally resisted turfing the rails until the day before Daytona and then I just did rather than going 2 years in a row with nothing.

It took about 2 hours and is staying on perfectly.

you must not be riding hard enough..........

if you put it on correctly, then it will stay on, but at some point, it will tear, and you will start losing bits and pieces........

Well, it will not stay on forever, obviously. But I would guess that properly applied turf will not come off for at least one or two seasons, unless you like hitting boats, docks, other skis, etc.....
I didn't know you were going to read this thread, otherwise I'd made those inclusive qualifiers to begin with.

Properly applied turf with black rubber based super glue to seal edges will never come off unless you hit something and tear a piece off .
It shouldn't come off from riding even if you do ghey hood tricks or stand on the rails .

I hear ya though turfing the rails isn't even cool anymore now that everyone and their mother has turfed rails .:frown:

Maybe the problem is the lack of designs from HydroTurf.
I would like to see a tire pattern instead of the diamonds. An F1 style full wet tire would look cool.

I thought they did have lots of patterns?

Anyone tried neoprene on rails? would it hold up?

When doing my SJ, I resisted turfing the side rails for handling reasons. Hydrodynamically putting a (1/4" fat) diamond pattern on a critical area is a no no...even if you chamfered the edge.

Granted, it isn't going to kill your handling but if like to lay it down and carve better than hood or rail tricks, its not the best option.

do you have any spread sheets, bar graphs or pie charts to support this theory?

i think chicks new boat's siderails are kinda tire-tracky. yes, theyre diamonds, but they do look way different running in that direction.

I just put turf on Katie’s rails but left the factory bumpers on. I simply put a strip of turf about 30” long on top of the side rail about 8" back from the front bumper.

My rails on my ski are turfed and I wouldn’t do it again.

I most certainly do.

I'll look for it but in the mean time here is a word from our sponsors
