Sorry to hear about you burns.
Do you need to cover up to keep sun off or for other protection? Long sleeve rash guard or the 1mm neoprene tops might do the trick (assuming it is for warmer conditions)

Do yourself a favor and check out RipCurl F-bomb series wetsuits at a local surf shop!!! My first Ripcurl lasted me 4+ years. Their new suits are 10x better more flexible and have a FIRESKIN lining in them that really works in the cold temps. I havent had another wetsuit come close to holding up as well as a Ripcurl!!!

steve-uk, don't even get me started with the quality, or lack there of, on a Slippery suit.

IMO: don't be chap with a wet suit. You absoutely get what you pay for in quality. That said, Quicksilver has a new suit that is pretty resonable. http://www.swimoutlet.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=19377&color=9325
Mike just got one and says he has pealed it off after riding and was dry underneath! I have the Quicksilver Cell suit. http://stores.channeladvisor.com/Bargain-Sports/items/item.aspx?itemid=10010794
Hyperstrech materials, glued and taped seams, warm and comfey. Most higher end suits have Hyperstrech, great flexability. I did a few triathalons in my suit last year and it had good flexability for swimming.
Xcel makes a good suit as well.

ive owned a couple of slippery suits now and love them, never had an issue with quality

the only product that i had from slippery that sucked was the boots, they fell apart after a couple rides

the first slippery suit i had i owned for 5 years without issues, i only bought a new one last season cos i managed (my fault) to destroy the zip on the one i had and i tore a hole in the suit too (again my fault)

except for whne im wearing my dry suit i rarely dont wear a wet suit so it gets lots of use

im guessing your experience wasnt so good... lol

i like the slippery matrix

POS. Sorry.
It doesn't work well as a wetsuit, which I didn't realize until I tried an actual quality suit. I wear my Matrix in the summer when temps aren't a concern and I just want something to protect my skin.

Damn straight. Been using mine for three seasons now, in water as cold as 33 degrees. AWESOME AWESOME wetsuit.
Most of the time, my core area doesn't even get wet.
There isn't a single tear or hole in this suit after three pretty hard seasons.

Meh....it was my first suit and I still have it. I wear it in the summer.
Just saying that for the money, you can do MUCH better.

Hotline http://www.hotlineonline.com/ are my favorite wetsuit they are made in Santa Cruz and you can custome order yours to you lengths and size and color, and my last suit has lasted me over 6 years with surfing and sking, I have had excel, oniel, bodyglove and they only lasted one year with surfing and jetsking.

Im planning getting a XCEL Drylock suit. Their stuff looks great and Ive only heard good things about them. Little pricey, but you most defiantly get what you pay for.

Also something about burns, by coincidence I was reading/watching about this newly developed procedure. Looks incredible. Might be something to ask about? http://gizmodo.com/5749968/the-skin-gun-that-sprays-new-skin-on-burn-victims-is-real

this is very intersting and also thanks for everyones input on wetsuits im not wanting to go cheap but i want to keep on the cheap side around 140 to 160 ish. for now till i get better and more money

I cant really say anthing good about jetpilot gear, I have had two pairs of gloves that both fell apart, one pair of boots done the same and my vest and suit all the printing is cracking and peeling off, 3months old, I think I will take it all back and try jobe

The Slippery suits are durable, but the fit and finish are poor. The seams are just sewn together, not sealed, not taped, large stitching... The suits are straight neopren, very little strech and none of the thermal/heat materials the good suits use in the chest area. The slippery suits are good for protection from bumps, but as far as a warm sealed suit.......well, you can't beat a good surf suit.
Bobob729: I understand your on a budget, but if you have fragile skin to protect from the elements, I would save and invest in a little better suit. Go to some stores if you can and find what fits. A well fit suit is key. With your height and weight, you probably need a medium-long suit. Most of the surf suits come in more than S, M. L, XL.
The Rip Curl suits are good as well.
Good luck!

well the main stuff that has to be covered is my hand which i will be wearing gloves the rest is mostly just 2nd acrosst the arm and my face has 3rd but more off behind my ear and the ear itself. My face is mostly second thats. so protection is a thing more for the hand and face rather than the shoulder. i might just save a little more and get a better one when i save up some money but at least i know what im looking for rather than be completely lost.

Sounds like you don't need a wetsuit... but really just sun protection on your upper body? What water temps are you riding in during your typical season?

I'd say just run with a l/s rash guard or suit jacket. But that's just me as I hate wearing a suit, it's a last resort and I'm getting to the point where if it's cold enough to warrant one I just won't ride. :purr:

http://www.wetsuitwearhouse.com/page/WW/CTGY/mens-wetsuit-tops

I have the Neosport 1.5 top and love it, has a lot of stretch (almost to the point I think it's going to tear) and a generous length that comes down and stays down.

If you do go with a suit, spend a little more a get a decent surf suit like others said the fit and finish is way better then the Slippery and you won't have regrets.
