what/who got you hooked on this sport?

My father in law gave me his JS550 owned since new. It was in pieces but had all the bolt ons, so I rebuilt it. Then found a local 550 for $300 and rebuilt it too. I rode those for two season and sold them for $3500 and bought a RN.

So my father in law is the one.

My co-worker raced cars and a limited Rn, one day he offered me a 650sx for $650 so I bought it, later he decided to focus 100% on car racing and offered me his limited Rn, work stand, helmet and race suit for $2500 so I bought it too. We rode recreationally, maintained and rebuilt the engines as needed for like 5 years. Up to this point I had no clue what you guys were up too in this sport.
My wife rode the sx and I wanted to get her a better ski, was shopping for an sxr for her but @ the time kept missing them, then none for sale but a clean 01 Rn came up so I got that one for her. The guy explained and showed me it had all this stuff done to it, I had not seen this stuff before, nor new anything about It. -4 poll, foot holds, dual bilges, blowsion steering, straight bars, odi grips, scoop grate, b-pipe, blowsion throttle, ADA head, odicy battery, 13/17 hooker prop, d-cut plate, and more. Ok nice ski for the wife, Look honey I got you a new ski, the Rn is way more stable than the sx your gonna like it! So we went for a ride one day but I said let me water test it first to make sure it's ok then we will switch.
We warm up at the ramp and head out, within 50 feet I stand up and hit the gas like I do on the limited but now the noise comes up, so iam off and on and off and on the gas trying to keep the noise down but the ski just tosses me off the back, I can't even ride it, my wife's doubles back and asks what's the problem? I don't know I'll try it again, takes three or four more tries to stay on and be under way WTF!
Takes me like 25 more minutes to figure out what low is useful for and After the wife saw all this she's like iam not getting on that thing so she got the limited ski and I got hooked!!!!!!!!

Ha ha Harbor, the X opened my eyes to a whole new world of riding too. The first time I saw a freestyle comp video on here my mind was blown. I was like, wait, a sub isn't the coolest trick these can do?! lol

Too many broken bones in motocross so turned to the water. After a few RN superjets and an SXR and riding with Zack from PHP my life was forever changed and devoted to the sport. Now we build some of the coolest skis around and spend weekends testing our products and our skills! Great friends and great times! Best sport ever!

When I was 14, 15 and 16 I was shipped off (during the Summers) to a tiny town near Branson, Missouri. I washed dishes for my uncles restaurant from about 3:30PM til 11:30PM. The owner of the building also owned a resort on Table Rock Lake. He said I could ride all I wanted for just gas! I killed 2 Kawis!

After college I wanted back in so I bought a 650SX then a brand new SXi Pro then a friend said get a superjet and after I killed that another friend introduced me to WDK and here I am!

Best sport ever ! Totally agree...nothing compares imo.

When we where younger my buddies dad had an old js 440 sitting in the shed it hadn't been running for a while. So he said if we could get it runnig we could ride it, it got us both hooked. Now we got a couple rn sj's an sxr and 2 rickters. Its so easy to get hooked into this sport, but it seems like your always chasing that more powerful ski.

Similar to @Tommygunz I grew up racing motocross, traveling across the county on my parents dime (including the medical bills from several broken bones/surgeries). I had some experience riding a RN from working at a Motorcycle dealership all throughout high school. I wasn't very good at all. I joined the Marine Corps shortly after HighSchool and sold the bikes. I got stationed in Beaufort, SC and meet/worked with @tbaer. I wanted to ride again but knew I shouldn't so we teamed up and bought some 650sx and started riding port royal outside of Paris Island. It progressed from there, then when we moved to the Surf I was hooked!!!!

It isn't quite the same feeling as the checkered flag waving for you as you're the first one across the finish line, but the feeling of landing my first surf roll was way more of a rush. I miss MX and still love the sport, but jet skis are so much safer and this is where I will stay (even though for what I have money wise in the garage I could have a lot more with MX). Plus it is more fun at my age (27) I would rather be on the water, enjoying the weather instead of sweating my butt off running motos and I got my wife a WB and she is very much a water person as well.

First time I went to my ex-gf's house, her brother had a 750sx and a 650sx and I looked at them in shock like "These things still exist." This was like 5 years ago. And me loving anything with a motor, became instantly hooked and tried to ride his skis as much as I could. Then I got hooked on PWCtoday and the X and had to get one.

Vanilla Ice got me interested, I used to watch him race, then when Waverace 64 came out I was hooked on that. I had never even met anyone that rode a standup, but I knew I wanted to try one. Bought an 86 550 a couple years ago and loved it. The next year I bought an RN, then a Matrix and now a Footrocket, I'm definitely hooked for life.

About 4 years ago when i was 12, i got to ride my first PWC, it was a seadoo 96xp for about 10 minutes. I wasn't even driving but i was already hooked. 2 years after that i saw the oside crew video in maybe waterhawks? signature on pwctoday. After seeing the backflips in the surf, i knew i had to get a standup. So last year, with only 10 minutes of total riding time on a couch my dad drove me 3 hours to Detroit on july 4th and i picked up a cheap 650. Now I have no idea how I'm going to pay for college with all my money going into my skis.

WaveRace64 started it, scooped up a cheap JS440 and was out riding on a local lake and saw a guy barrel roll a superjet, went out and bought a brand new on that next weekend. That was the top of a slippery slope.
