What's a better option, Solas 144 Mag pump or a pump cone

I'm looking to improve the low end hook up on my 05 superjet.

Its got a b-pipe, ada head, msd, and mild case porting.

I can't decide whats a better route to go, a new solas 144 mag pump and new impeller or get a pump cone and new impeller.

I'd save a few bucks with the pump cone but I'm not sure it will be as good as a new pump.

Other thought is to spend even more money and get the Solas 148 mag but I would need to get a new impeller housing as well.

I ride surf and boat wakes, I don't really care about top end speed I just want low end power and hook up.

solas 144 mag pump worked good on my 701 but if you plan on lot better set and spending 1200 plus go with 148 , i bought the 144 then sold it few months later for 148 when i went with bigger motor

I use to have a H2O torrent 148 pump with my tpe 964 then with my dasa 1100 and worked well.

A mate bought it and runs it in the surf with a 760. He said it was much better than the 144 on hook up.

Pump cone is a band aid/ tuning tool

I run the Solas pump, Solas wear ring, and a Solas impeller as a package. Their impeller to stainless wear ring clearance when new is better than mixing and matching skat/Solas impellers with an old worn oem wear ring.

Def check out the H2O torrent pump. I have a the Maxx 160 now and quality is good but the torrent was outstanding

A pump is going to be MUCH better than just a stuffer. The are Large hub, and more veins for increased hook up.

IMO on a SJ, with a 701-760 144mm pump is plenty. Unless you are running a 780 + CC engine, and intending to do flat water flips, the 144mm will be all you need. Even with that I know guys that are running 780+, 144mm, and flat water flipping.

I have both 144 & 148 here, we turn each, to address bearing area, and press issues, also have wear rings, and impellers if you need.

Have you gotten your pump yet? I'm about to buy a maxx 148 setback pump for my ski. I hope it works out well.

I liked the Maxx 148 I had on my 16mm 1100. it worked very well.

No I haven't gotten the pump yet. I ordered the new prop but probably won't have the pump installed until May. Thanks Proformance1 for all the help, I'm stoked! Let me know when the prop comes.
