So I thought I would update this thread. I did receive my pump a couple weeks ago, looks awesome. But there is more to the story. I had a buddy send my pump there because he owed me a favor and he had a dealer account with them. He enclosed a note with the requested services with his contact info so we could get an accurate estimate of repairs after inspection. Well weeks gone by, no word from Dave, After numerous emails and phone messages my buddy finally got a hold of him, Dave says "yea the pump's here, I'll check it out tomorrow and contact you with an estimate". So another week, no response from Dave. A couple weeks later, ( we are approaching the 2 month mark now) he calls my buddy and says the pump will be done soon and it's going to be around $1000 !! WTF I say, we we're still waiting on an estimate of repair! I guess I should include the requested services:
Skat Kawi mag pump
repair two chipped veins
New bearings
Resleeve from 142 to 145
trade in 13/18 prop for 11/17
stubby cone
So he tells my buddy the reason it took so long is that I have an oddball mag pump 1 of 3 ever made by Skat, The housing is cast aluminum, The veins are aluminum instead of stainless. Only the sleeve is stainless. It's 4 lbs. lighter than the average Kawi mag pump. This is all fine and dandy, my issue is the no communication with an estimate of repairs before the work was performed! I am a master mechanic, and that's like a customer drops their car off to me and states "It's overheating" and I call them aweek later to tell them it's ready for pickup; I replaced the head gasket and machined the cylinder head and oh yea, the bill is a couple grand. you think that customer is going to be happy, i don't think so. And by law they would need a written estimate of repair. so long story short, we got the bill down to $700 because he never contacted us with an estimate. when I received the pump, I pulled the prop out to get a good look at everything, guess what... WRONG PITCH, sent a 12/17 instead of the 11/17 that's on the invoice. This is 2 weeks ago, sent an email to Dave immediately, Still no response to this day!
So last week I call Glen at Skat to order a stubby cone that got lost in translation also, explain to him my experience with Impros, and Glen tells me Yea Dave brought me that pump, because he has never seen an all aluminum like that. It turns out Glen at Skat did the work on the pump for Dave. Glen tells me he only made 3 of those pumps. So instead of mailing my wrong pitch prop back to Impros and crossing my fingers I'll get it back this ride season. I posted it for sale, no luck . I called Glen at Skat today, he said he will exchange it for me if I just pay the shipping.. Glen is a super cool guy, you can always get a hold of him, very easy to talk to and very knowledgable.. He didn't have to do that , because I didn't buy it from him.
So to sum things up, I will only deal with Skat now, F*** Impros.
