Which flame arrestor? Riva vs K&N

I just picked up a 95 SuperJet to replace my trusty Kawasaki 550. Both skis have BN44s. The SJ came with a Riva flame arrestor with a wire mesh/cotton guaze construction. Its a little dirty and ratty looking but no holes in the filter.
The 550 has a K&N oval flame arrestor with a water-resistant cover. Which would you guys run?

a particulate filter in a ski is the worst thing you can do,the carbs reverb out oil and gas, clog the filter, get even worse when wet, a wire mesh prox or stocker is the only way to go,those outer wears are just as bad,and totally useless
