Which SJ to buy?

Hey all, I’ve been out of the game for quite some time due to military service. My last ski was a 2002 SJ with a lot of standard mods. I’m looking to purchase another ski but I’m curious what the real difference is in the pre 08 to post 08 SJ. I’m pretty certain I wanna stay away from the new 4 stroke stuff. What’s your opinions? I’m in outer banks, NC

post 08 was more of a racing hull. I personally like the pre 08. I’m a noob though

At this point they are all pretty hard to buy, and expensive compared to years ago, so I would just get whatever you can find if it comes down to it.

If you ride fast and aggressive theres nothing wrong with an +08. If have to slam the bars for sharp turns and its barely enough. Def do the mod. The prop is great. If you prefer to bop around or just like a slower freeride experience the hull will chinewalk.

Im in the minority, but i like pre 08 bottom deck with no sponsons. I like the weird combo of a flat turning 2x4. Lol

Yea I only know the pre 08 pump. Haven’t rode anything else. I’m 35 now and broken. I just wanna play around in the water and refuse to buy a couch

Pre-08 is far more playful and forgiving than the 08+. The ‘03 and ‘04 are the best looking of the pre-08 models.

Fitting a B pipe in a 08+ is much easier due to the additional room you have with the integrated sponsons. Other than modifying the steering it’s a great hull.

Both skis can do it all. It mostly depends where / how you ride.

pre 08 is better below 25 mph
post 08 is better above 25mph
