which way does superjet pump shoe seal go

I am trying to figure out what direction the pump shoe seal goes in? There is a flat side and a grooved side what side goes angainst the pump shoe?? help

Not to sound like a jerk but I'm pretty sure the seal will only mount to the pump one way leaving the other side to seal against the shoe.

the groove goes toward the pump shoe( forward)
