Why do I torture myself?..... raider fixed steer sj

Well here I go again down the itchy, scratchy stupid path of building something myself.

Going to power my old hull with a 650, pro-tec head, lightweight flywheel, Cheater pipe and 08-up sj stock prop with stubby cone, stock cdi with rev limiter deleted.

Just want to build this as a fixed steer, then backflip it with a 650.

I was thinking about it. But it's: fuel level, oil, overheat and tach. I really don't care for any of them except maybe the tach?

I run premix and don't have an overheat sensor plugged in. And the raider fuel gauge won't fit cause a Superjet tank only has one pickup.

It sits flush already. Just cut it down to about 12". Used some liquid nails just to hold the bottom of the pole in place to the top of the hood while the glass dries.

There are going to be a lot of sessions of glass on this hood to make it watertight, strong and rideable by me.

WAB hood take two! I had a raider hood cut up as well as an old sn pole chopped up ready for this same thing couple years ago and said f. That and sent Tom 21 the money instead. I am confused as to why your selling your perfectly good sn and building this Frankenstein?

I've had all the guts to put this together for a while. Sick of looking at multiple skis kicking around here so I finally decided to build this one. Going to sell this when its done also and might go aftermarket hull when my regular fixed steer sells.

This was my original fixed steer hull. I retired it and built another last year and this one has been sitting on the side of my garage ever since.

Look closely at the background of my second picture.

I say that but I love this kid like crazy, it's truly hard to describe it until you're a parent......now enough of that sissy talk more fiberglass a two stroke smoke!

Got a little more done today. Going to be a slow process. Work two hours a day on it then wait 24 hours for glass to cure before the next step.

Need to go get more 17oz biax too. I'm almost out.

Looks like it's coming along nicely! I get Excited for these hodgepodge old part builds. New parts and hulls are nice and fancy but this build looks like a good ole fashion "love/hate" relationship, keep up the good work!

I was really hoping to see the gauge cluster kept. Very cool nonetheless. Never been on a fixed steer SJ. Going to have to try one out one of these days.
