Now, I realize the top halves of the 6m6, 61x, and 62t are all different in every way. But the 6m6 and 61x both can share the same bottom half crank casing in which they both use 6m6 bottoms... 62t intake tracts are also on the top case, so my question is, can I use the 6m6 bottom case on a 62t top case? Reason I ask is because I can probably pick up a set of 62t casings for free because they have a hole in the bottom... Any help appreciated, thx.
Custom/Hybrid will a 61x, or 6m6 bottom crankcase work with 62t top

You will probably get bearing clatter and screw up the cases. It has happened to me before. Lesson learned.

They need to be matched, when they bore theme from factory cast theme whatever they do its done in sets

This is true. I might try resurfacing them with 800 grit and a stone table to remove the high spots so they're flat again.. Well, I am indeed broke at the moment, will a ported 61x case offer just as good bottom end as a stock 62t case when using a ported 701 61x cylinder? I have a dual carb option for the 61x but its way too much air for the smaller intake tract so I'm not even going to go there unless there's a way...
I could care less about the top end... Speed which I know is a advantage with the 62t cases though it isn't much... Group k says its a 4mph top speed difference which don't get me wrong is huge, but I know 61x piped and ported with a milled or girlded high comp head of some sort and the right jetting will definetly hit 50-55 depending on rider, weight, and rider setup (pitch of impeller, pump hookup, ext.)
You guys make a good point with the bearing clatter, that's what I was afraid of... Its I can get just as good bottom end with the 61x whole setup then I'll stick with it. But I doubt I can, I'm sure its comparable when at the stock bore, but I know for a fact 61x cases don't cut it for big bores such as 760 and larger...

Are you merging a bottom case with a ported 61x top case? If it is one of those deals where there is nothing to lose then just slap them together and coat the bearing races with some 1211 or whatever you have. If if works it works. If not, oh well.
