Will heat effect anodizing

I have a anodized blue rrp pole. I wanted to go a little bit shorter but the bolts wont budge. Im sure a little heat will get it but i dont want to mess up the anodizing. Any color fade or anything else happen or am i fine?

Heat the bolt directly! Once loose, pull bolts and clean, chase threads. Reassbmle with neverseze.
To be direct on question? Yes, anodizing will discolor with high heat

Other option is to chill the bolt. If you get the air in a can bottles and turn them upside down you can use them to chill stuff. The thing is when you heat something it will try to expand in all directions but is constrained on the sides by the threads. When you cool it, it will shrink in all directions. Just my two cents.

I have had the RRP bolts gall and seize. I have just drilled the heads off, it was easy, and no damage to the pole. As Jr stated, anti seize is a must.

I believe locktight was also used on them. If I put some pb blaster on it and let it soak you think that will help? maybe help loosen up the lock tight?

Loctite melts with heat. Corrosion swells with penetrating oil, possibly making it worse?
Try heat first, then drill the bolt heads off like John suggested.

Never tried this, but take a soldering iron and place it in center of head, would take a while but applying direct heat to the bolt itself. Might be enough to heat the loctite enough to get it free.

Yes, Jr, I am from Alabama..................... If I was from Mississippi I would have said fill the cap of the bolt with gas and light it. may have to do it several times........

Maybe you should put a disclaimer on every technical thread you respond to? .................
Just saying?
