Winter trip from Canada to southern states 2015.. anyone wanna join and ride surf?

I would like to start early and plan a trip to the U.S. during the winter months of 2015, for a few weeks in either February or March, perhaps California or Florida?
Plan would be to quickly drive down, taking turns, rest, relax, and ride some surf! people can either join for the whole trip of say 3 weeks or something or part of it possibly, I am flexible with dates and ideas where to go or what to do!

don't worry about paying for accommodations, its free! I have a 22ft fifth wheel sled trailer with windows and vents, that is fully insulated and has kitchenette, fold out bunk beds (real mattresses), heated, generator... well basically its a severe duty toy hauler, that is actually rated for winter conditions, we've used it in as low temps as -38degC and as warm as +25degC. the only thing it doesn't have is a shower and crapper, so we normally park near civilization or a campground, so its easy to use a store or restaurant or shower at gyms if were not parked at a campground.
I have a lot of ideas, I can build anything, and was even thinking of building a trailer within a trailer, I mean since the interior is 8ft wide X 7ft tall, I could make a ski trailer to fit inside of the fifth wheel, and simply roll it out, unhook the truck from the fifth wheel, and pull the little trailer to the beach! and as the bottom deck is 22ft long, we can haul as many skis as we like! I can build a 4 place, 6 or 8! the fifth wheel trailer is a low deck height, so it would be easy to roll a trailer up inside, its actually rated for a vehicle to drive inside, depending where we are going we could even bring a quad if we want to pull the trailer on the beach or around if it's legal. we use it for fishing, hunting, and all sorts of motorized sports/camping activities, and have stayed in it for up to 3 weeks at a time. it has a stove/sink and cooking/dinnerware. the unit comes loaded with tools, I will supply it all! everything you'll need to rebuild a ski if it needs it (less a press, vice, and honing machine..lol!)
I am also considering bringing a spare ski or a hot swappable engine, like a new Jet Maniac engine, from carbs to flywheel, so its ready to go and no one will have to lose epic ride time, I would foot the expense of the engine or some other parts possibly, but you only pay cost if you use it... or something like that, just an idea.
and fuel, don't worry about that, I'll pay for all the fuel (truck fuel) for the trip! this is my idea, and I mostly just want 3-5 other people to come along for some good times! so really you would have minimal expense, I'd leave from Edmonton, so you'd either have to get here, or be on the way. I really want to open this to all Canadians first, as our winter here blows, and we need a nice break! but if no one wants to seriously commit and join me, then I will open it up to anyone somewhat along the way. let me know your thoughts or any ideas, or pm me if you are interested!

sorry for the mess in the trailer, I just wanted to give you an idea of what it looks like, but it has a table and chairs we fold out when at night or eating. its more of "hostel" type accommodations as opposed to some 90K toy hauler, which I doubt no one would ever let a two stroke into them things or fix in it. trailer.jpgP1010991.jpgP1010993.jpg

I am sure we can make that happen! Cali it is then! I just wasn't sure on the water temps there that time of year. Also closer.

Water temps along the west coast don't vary significantly seasonally.
Further, the temps don't really vary that much north to south until you get into Southern California

Post new years I would be game for a trip like this. I was planning to do a coast trip next spring in the hopes at getting a screaming deal on an aftermarket unit. If the timing works we could either meet down there or I can treck west to your location. I will keep an eye on this thread.

I just noticed that your heading says 2015....

Yep, 2015, so this gives guys time to book holidays if needed, hone their skills, fix what ever needs to be dialed in or in some cases... Buy a new hull! haha!
So we all have a bit more then a year from now to get organized. I think it'd be awesome.
i was thinking some of the ladies might wanna come out too, or should i say perhaps meet us down there for a little bit, i was thinking any wives or gf's might just take a flight out there and hang for a while if they want, i am sure my mrs. would rent a room and car and come hang out at the beach for a week if any others wanted to join her.

You need to go to Oceanside, CA. Florida would probably have better weather, but east coast surf sucks. Not that I'm a surf rider, I've only been to Oceanside once and the waves were perfect. Air temps should be at worst 60*F. Wetsuits and gloves for sure though. Should also stop in Miller Park in Sacramento, CA or windmill cove near Stockton, CA. Both are good places for big boats on weekends in the winter if you want to stop for a day or two. Not as good as a summer weekend but hey, it only takes a couple monster boats plowing you a wake for 15min to make us happy.

great idea, the wife and I have been talking of doing similar, sticking to the west coast significantly reduces mileage and drive time from edmonton, the extra time saved could also be spent going further south into me-hico ;-)

will also follow this, might do a trial run this winter to toffino, not as big surf and not as warm, but staying in my country means no borders to cross..which isnt always a bad thing either.

I should have no problem lining a trip like this up then, and at that time I will have a more suitable craft. I have a few other people from Winnipeg that would likely join in at that point as well. It's a long way a way but keep me posted with any developments.
