Went Pro-X last time. I'll stick with Wiseco from now on:
1) Lighter than the Pro-X
2) Wrist pin is shorter/circlips are mounted deeper into the piston. (so the wrist pin is probably lighter too…hey, every little bit counts)
3) Either the rings are stronger(tighter wound) or the ring grooves are deeper than the Pro-X, because not once did I encounter the issue where the ring would slide past the little pin in the piston grooves. This made it FAR easier to be sure the rings were properly positioned when lowering the cylinder over the pistons.
4) The circlips seemed a little more robust. This could have been my imagination though.
5) The Wisecos seemed to have a higher quality finished machining job. They were a little blingyer. Maybe that’s just forged vs cast, maybe not. They were quite shiny. They just look like a nicer part. If as much care was given during the entire machine process I would imagine they are indeed superior to the Pro-X.
6) The ski is a bit louder now especially on initial start up when it is out of the water. I’m guessing because of the looser clearance while it’s cold. In the water it’s a bit meaner sounding. …Which is nice.
Considering the forged are stronger/lighter/ and handle detonation better, it seems like an obvious choice.
And as far as spending an extra minute or minute and a half to warm it up...we should all probably be doing that anyhow.
Most importantly, my boat just pulls really HARD now. I am sore like I haven't been since my first 2 rides of the season. :Banane09:
