Word filter - change word instead of :):):):)

Just thinking out loud here. I was reading on a forum (that I can't find now, but will keep looking) where they changed filtered words rather than just blocking them out. For instance - *donkey*hat was changed to "Upside-down top hat".

It took some getting used to, but was hilarious.

SomethingAwful forums does this, and I think it's hilarious.

asshat -> rear end in a top hat
f*kc -> gently caress
poop -> poopoo

And so on.

vbulletin doesn't have a 'per word' censor by default. I'm sure there is one out there though.

An old add-on, not updated since 12/2007 and 2 versions ago. I've been hacked enough to not mess around with old stuff that might not be secure.

I have a different way of doing it that's better, might mess around with it but it's more work because it has to be done for each theme.
