Bad news, however -- I got to Havasu today, but I am having major issues with the ski, so it's all up in the air now. I'd hate to go out on a ski I don't feel good about, and on the other hand I'd hate not to compete at my first World Finals now that I'm here.

It takes a lot of planing and work to make it to the world finals. Not just talant and balls.. Your riding is just getting better and better. Hope the best for ya.. Ya better ride you are part of the reason i'm heading over there.. Get to work and have that ski flying (inverted) Yea i like the old man part too.. watch out kids here you are.. make it happen..

Super Flips are fun... when you survive
Thanks for the support. Yesterday was one of those days:
- Woke up at 5 to catch a plane
- Flew for 4 1/2 h (with 2 infants)
- Drove for 2 1/2h to Havasu (with 2 infants)
- Felt like the ski is someone else's. Could barely do anything (seen the post above)
- Was the last guy practicing on Body Beach, so when it was time to go and my truck got stuck in the sand there was no one to help
- Two locals came with an F250 with huge tires and a chain
- Long story short, they got stuck, too. So, now both trucks were stuck in the water
- Third truck came and unstuck the second truck, but couldn't get mine out
- 3h later a tow truck came and after a good hour of trying unstuck me

Sorry for your bad luck here in Havasu so far! That sand around the cove area can get soft and deep.
You say your ski didnt feel like it was yours... I was just wondering if you ship your ski via air? I'm just asking because the atmospheric pressure can cause some problems for a bit once its back on the ground again. Vaclav Zachek(The Iceman) tells me about it when he flys his EME's here.
At least you have today and tomorrow to get things sorted out. I cant believe the change in weather now! It went from 100's, down to 70's! Bizarre.
Anyways, I am a local here and have a lot of connections. If you need any kind of help, let me know!

I agree with you 100% (plus I would add that there is a big element of luck) and that is the main reason why up until last week I thought I was not coming -- I simply didn't have anything properly organized. I didn't have the ski, didn't have a minute of practice in 5 weeks, didn't have mechanical sponsor to help with setup/problems, didn't have physical help at the location. And then, just like every other junkie, as soon as I was told that the ski would be ready, I decided to come even though nothing else changed.
It is what it is now, I'll try to work around the ski issues today and tomorrow and at least be in control of it.
