Son was taking 1st ride of season, and forgot to check to see if locked! Well, cap cover bounced off, and then tore off chain. I found and bought the cover on ebay, but latch mechanism has been a bit elusive. $72.00 on the Kawi parts site! Can't/won't pay that!
It appears that the 650 and 300 hulls of the same design use the same latch assembly.
