300/440/550 X2 pump set back and hull piece

Location

I posted on the other site as well...

I posted about this before but got no replies. This time I've got pics. I curious to know why the pump is set back about 2". Thinking about trying it out on my freeride X2 but I don't want to get it on to find it pushes the nose down.
The pump is bolted to a plate to set it back, the intake lengthened and driveshaft lengthened as well.
Also have this hull piece. Anyone seen one before? What does it do?
Thanks

That's interesting. Seems like that plate would work has a scoop too... but the Hull addition defeats the purpose of the scoop since it would push water down?????

Give it a try and let us know.

Or ask Cartel, he seems to know quite a bit about engeneering!!!!!:banghead:

That hull piece is called a bubble they were popular back in the day.The way it is supposed to work is the water flows over the bubble and tries to follow the shape of the bubble kind of similar in operation to a pump stuffer. Its kind of the same effect as an airplane wing creating lift. There was some hydrodynamic research done on the subject and it does appear to work.

Interesting mods to the hull, It's hard to say that any one of the revisions they did to the hull, aren't enhancements. The question is; was the person do the mods as a controlled experiment, or was it gut (f__kin' around). Three interesting ideas, alot of work.

Can you talk to the guy who made the mods?

Ahh,I was hoping someone would answer this one.I couldn't remember if the piece in question mounted up front to "tune-in" the ride hieght of the ski w/the set-back pump set-up.I know my B1 set-back is to keep the nose down(racing),I would think the same would apply here.
