Hey guys I picked up my first am hull like a month ago it's a XFT fly-x. I wasn't a fan of the color nor the chipped up paint job and getting back surgery soon I decided to strip her down and start fresh. I promised myself I'd start this thread earlier but it didn't happen. For now it's going to have my 61x 701 with jetworks modded 38s, ported, and b pipe. Started with a stock pump bit is being upgraded as I type this.
Old yellow paint

Stripped down for the paint shop

and of course while I had her torn apart I had to get a weight. With the intake grate, pump shoe, midshaft, both scuppers, and engine mounts, hood, nose piece, and hood latch she weighed a brisk 87lbs on a bathroom scale.

The best way to describe the new paint would be charcoal gray with blue flake in it.

Got the pump torn apart and put in my solas mag and 14/19 solas prop installed using @rdrtroy heat and cool method. Has a new wear ring, pairing it up with a pro tex exit nozzle, it's at stock bore, but with plenty of room for boring in just not sure on the size.

I should've did this first but oh well, I have the ski in my shop right now. I just sanded for hoursssss trying to get the bottom silky smooth, I'm going to gel coat it white tomorrow. After that I need to decide on my turf colors. I was originally going to use black molded diamond but I have some green laying around and that may go good with the new paint.

Just my 2 cents. I've gone with many colors. Black holds up the best and last the longest. Especially the color. But if you don't mind doing turf every two seasons then it doesn't matter.

I used regular white gel coat that we use for our work. Cut it with styrene to thin it out and sprayed it though a regular paint gun. Finish it off with a 300-500 grit wet sand and the bottom will smooth as heck .

I also got my trim ready to rip.

Turfing got setback to tomorrow because I got caught up in the weekend. But it should be assembled and ready to ride by Wednesday.

So I really busted my balls today and got it done. All in one shot. Did the turf, sanded the gel coat and buffed it, and fully assembled it.
