I think the only real advantage to using a Kawi pump is how quick and easy an impeller change is. No drive shaft removal is needed, just drop the pump out, lock the flat on the impeller shaft into a vice, drop the impeller removal tool into the impeller (looks like a bolt with a spline) and unthread...easy. I hate the stupid aftermarket impeller Yamaha concept of a hollowed out hex impeller removal tool, and then locking the drive shaft into a securing fixture such as a vice with the other hollow spline tool. My aftermarket Yami impeller tool is all but destroyed from only two removal/re-installs. I can remove a Kawi impeller in seconds to not more than a minute...not so easily done when removing my aftermarket Yami impeller.
