yup.... it finally happened

I can no longer live in this city w/o a motorcycle. I hate Harley's or anything even close to a cruiser. Not interested in a rice rocket either...

SO...... I found a 2005 KTM 250EXC for $3500, some old dude about 65years old had it... It's looks mint and I am totally stupid over this thing...

The bike is titled for the road and has the lighting package intalled already..

Good deal?? please say yes...

BUY IT!

same bike as mine. and it's a good price.

only thing is, I would only do short around town commuting on it. no highway stuff. it'll never hold up to that type of riding, You'd have to buy stock in top ends.

I would not consider that... just 35mph-45mph roads tops

you should have no problems with that. my bike is geared for off-road and it tops out at 63mph. but it'll get there almost imediately. A quick spocket change will give me more top end and better milage at a small sacrifice of the punch off the bottom. as a commuter though, you wouldnt miss it. sisnce 1st gear is so low you could decrease the rear quite a bit and still have a very useable gearing set up as a commuter. the lower reves will increase the longevity of your top end too. I typically get about 50-60hrs out of a top end. you should be able to go longer for mild riding at lower revs.

I'd also lose the knobs and put on some decent DS tires. they'll hold the pavement much better and wear longer. Bridgestone trailwings arent bad and can be had cheap on Ebay, since it's the stock DRZ-S tire and most of those guys yank 'em off first thing to replace with knobies.

just dont do any jumping or drop off's.

nah.... I just want to keep in mild on this thing... The other guys are not getting stupid on them, so that will help. Plus, I am new to this so I will be learning for a while...

FLA riding isnt like some other states, especially trail riding.. it's FLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. single track is where it's at. but if you ride anywhere that quads have access too be prepaired for monster whoops from hell. If I were you I'd avoid these areas at all costs.

:sneaky:

seriously.. I resisted the trend for a long time.

the only reason I got one was because I got it for next to nothing. I figured I'd try it and if I didnt like it I could resell it at a profit. it went in and there it will stay. I'm a convert. although if I rode alot of open very fast stuff I'd go back to a standard clutch. but in the tight nast stuff I ride, all the fast guys run an autoclutch, and it's a big reason they are so damn fast. I noticed a considerable difference in my riding with it.
