Super Jet Zeeltronics CDI for a 760 RN superjet

Dude... just stay stock. You think a 200 dollar ignition upgrade is gonna make you the next joe kenney? Trust me. Go ride and have fun. 60 % chance you get the stupid sh** anyway

I dont mean to sound like a total douche rocket but yamaha figured out the science in 1990. If u wanna go thrash and be rad as hell it'll cost ya 3 to 7k. Or you can spend 30k to try to make it look like it was super hard to make your backie cool cause you tilted your head.

Not sure how any rider on a properly set up ski could ever stand bouncing off of a rev limiter!

I have been through two MSD's in many many years of riding and I can say....for me....well worth it!! A better curve and a high rev limit are 100% needed!

I have not and probably never will try a zeel at this point.

If the engine is completely stock with the stock pipe then stick with the stock cdi. If you put a pipe, head etc then you'll want to get a cdi with higher Rev Limit and more timing. Msd enhancer works fine but is limited. With the zeel you can program any curve and Rev limit you want. The advantages there are obvious. Both Will hold up fine and be reliable as long as the ebox stays sealed up.

Thank you all for the responses. It’s a 760, ported, pro tec head 36cc domes, pro tec intake manifold, v-force 2 reeds, trued/ welded crank, and factory 9 dry pipe. I bought this ski used this summer as is, I had to rebuild it among other things. Stock cdi and definitely annoying bouncing off the rev limiter. I purchased an adjustable rev limiter stock cdi at the end of summer but didn’t get it installed before the season ended and back on my dirtbike. So I am going to use that as a back up and going through the post I will be going with a MSD. Zeel seems neat but way more than I need on the adjustment side of things.
Thank you all for help.

I would NOT go with the MSD with a type 9. You don’t want that much timing with that pipe once you get over 7000 or so rpm. You ski will be faster and actually live with oem modified cdi. You also have Protec domes which have a much better performance squish design on the domes. Most on this site have conservative ada domes. I defiantly wouldn’t do the msd. I actually would be looking at what your exhaust port timing is. You could have a cylinder that wants 7200, 7400 or even 7600 rpm. In that case your oem cdi will be an issue once around getting up there

Interesting.. Man I love this forum, so so much knowledge. Well heck, I was planning on running a 8k maybe 8500k rev limiter? Is that ok with the modified stock cdi?

Yes but you need to understand how many rpm your setup may turn. A type 9 setup from racing (port timing and pump load) spins up 7600-7700 rpm and only a zeel would be safe or msd total loss. However if your just low port 760 you might get away with oem cdi. Really need to know your porting and pump setup. Maybe you have freestyle ported 760 who knows?
