Zieman double trailer conversion!

I am converting a Zieman double trailer, just recently picked up this with two wr3s on them for $1000. The skis were running, a 650, and a 701. Good donor skis and about what I like to pay in AZ for this deal. This is my second time getting this identical set for $1000 or less!

Trailer is a 1996 has the title and has a ton of rust! Barely made it back to Phoenix from quartzite but none the less I needed to move the skis around a bit so that had to get handled quick!

Here are the rusty bars I had to cut out, the back cross support and the front cross support thats attaches to the blue stop mount location.

Plans so far are 3 skis in the back, superjet bunk setup on the outsides and fx1 bun setups inside. Once my new hull gets here that will be the 4th ski mounted in front of the 3 on the rear.95D3B5A5-7E9E-4D85-BF39-68E057F4BEAC.jpegE6A79FD3-54D6-48BB-8410-F61B809C3315.jpeg33882B35-DB60-4ABA-BE11-E0819273CE63.jpeg

Heres how I did mine....

I have that same trailer, only factory yellow and no rust..lol Looks like it originally came from the north, northeast, or northwest probably. haha
Zeiman trailers are built overkill and you cant beat them for a steel trailer.
Looks like your score were the ski's and the trailer was just a bonus, nice find. I used to part out a ton of ski's and you just cant find them like you used to.

100% man used to snatch skis up let and right for around $500 so I had to jump on that deal. I got the same setup with a perfect non rusty Zieman same exact setup but no box for $750 both skis and trailer haha. Now that trailer I’m going to sell I’m sure it will fetch around $1000 here in Phoenix. I have a Zieman single too that was converted for two standups and is great, but adding a few skis to the fleet during this recharge.

Too bad my nice one was used as a paint stand by the buddy that painted my skis haha! Oh well

I like this trailer because I put old pontoon wheels on it and it works great for launching at the river!

Not a very good pic but you can kind of see how I built up the ski racks on the side so I could fit my blaster in the middle when I need to.

I see, that’s some key info there, a lot of times you’d expect just raise the center ski up and thats only one ski that has to ride high and ride in the middle. Any reason you did the side skis on the elevation to clear the bond rail on the center ski specifically? That would make a lot of sense when towing one ski often but how does it ride with the two outside skis up high? These trailers are heavy enough I don’t foresee any issues getting up on one wheel regardless but just wondering why not raise the center ski a tad to clear a standups bond line being they have a “more shallow” bottom deck typically?

To be honest the thought of raising the center ski didnt cross my mind. Lol.

Ive been using the trailer off and on for quite a few years with no issues....one ski in the middle or one ski on one side. Originally the side were a few inches taller but didn't need to be so I cut them down a couple inches.

I mostly used the sled deck last summer. But bought a new truck so changing it up again....never happy. 20190810_152414.jpg20190810_182244.jpg

Yea that’s a badass setup for sure! I’m thinking I’ll raise the center ski, going for my AM ski in the front. Fx1 and two squares on the back for the most part but I do have a blaster as well. Girlfriend used to like it but then it got the 760 treatment with a b pipe and head and they all hate it cause it’s scary now haha. I just need to go pickup more steel to get cracking on the trailer but I have plans to make it definitely alittle more crazy than just holding the skis.

I here ya on the lack of good deals. Used to be able to find them all over the place in the SW, now they are few and far between. Picked these up outside of El Paso in December. Rehabbing everything and working on the trailer this weekend. Pretty excited about it.

It works for 3 across the back (1 sit down centered, 2 standups on the outside) and I have room to add bunks in front of those skis for one more. Here one I did for a friend. Still needs mounting points but bunks are setup ready for good bunk wood and carpet.CB25C68C-6E12-4225-9710-638657C353D9.jpeg38E4DC9C-90D0-4947-A70E-9CB05E478733.jpegFD36C513-F6DE-4BC1-AC73-F2BC15547B0D.jpeg

What did you use to pull the skis up on the deck? And what does your ramp look like? I would love to figure out how to make this setup work with my aluminum deck but will take some work.

2000 pound atv winch mounted to the bottom of the deck and wired to the battery of the truck with a disconnect. Since then I bought a Cummins and have decided that when I'm pulling the TH I dont need to bring the blaster so I built a rack that fits my wife's wamilton hull and my fixed steer superjet....much easier to load and unload.

The ramp of the sled deck had 2x2 with old hyfax screwed to them. A little sticky at times but some wd46 took care of that.

This is what I'm currently using in the pics. Still using an atv winch but I made the ramp 2 feet longer and added ebay rollerblade wheels instead of hyfax.

A bunch of us are headed to pismo for 10 days in a couple weeks. I'll try to remember to get better pics and videos. 20200920_125439.jpg20200920_124713.jpg20200919_002438.jpg
