I want to say thank you to everyone that helped me out at the spot on Sunday.

My Dodge Magnum got stuck in park while I was getting the skis out in the afternoon and the tide was rising.

Thank you to Standup Ed and Butti for towing me above the high tide mark, thanks to Jetmaniac for the tow strap (and in general for having the right ski parts and quick shipping!), thanks to Augustaf for helping disconnect the battery and moving some of my belongings above the high tide line as well. Also big thanks to FlightPlanDan and Jay for taking care of me that night and getting me to the Dodge dealer the next day. If I missed anyone thanks to you too, I was starting to get stressed as the tide started coming in so my memory is starting to blur.

The Dodge dealer had me going before 11am the next day but ended up replacing the entire shifter assembly with the same ($$$), so it would likely happen again in a few years if left as is. I'll get the billet replacement in a few months http://www.custombilletstore.com/product_p/1028.htm

I'll see if I can get Chrysler/Dodge to cover the parts and labor for the repair done at the dealer, I've read that if I call and complain they might cover it.

At least it happened AFTER two good days of riding, hopefully I will see you guys for next storm that makes some nice waves down there.

i've found jetski buddies to be priceless in a time of emergency. My dad and a friend were in a jetski collision- breaking my dad's wrist. They were a ton of help in getting him out of the water and onto land into a car. The gang loaded up all our gear, the ski's, the tent, coolers etc. while we ran him to the emergency room. I couldn't thank them enough!

That was weird timing for sure. He backs down to (salt)waters edge to grab his ski , loads up and car is stuck in park with incoming tide. Scary for sure!!

Ended up with 2 4x4's and 2 towstraps to get enough traction in the sand to pull the car to safety.

I'm guessing that the tranny felt o.k? Maybe it was a good thing that it was sand and not a paved ramp!

Also, you failed to mention the "locking the keys in the car" part of the story!

Glad it all worked out, and glad to help. But where was the voice of reason at 3 a.m....!!!!!! Rough day at work Monday..lol.

Thanks, maybe someday I can tow a BadAss too, but I need a nicer trailer before that nice of a ski.

Yeah, that was the icing on the cake, I have my normal keys and another car key on a float around boat ramps (a lesson learned in the past) and both were in the front seat when the door was closed. Luckily the third set of keys locked in the car were the tow truck driver's equipment keys and he had left the flatbed running.

The transmission felt fine, the tranny itself is a Mercedes NAG1 known to be durable. Some SRT8 guys are pushing 1000+hp through it with some clutch pack changes. The SRT8 half-shafts tend to only break with drag radials + nitrous and/or forced induction, the drag radials being the key component.

Go for it. No reason not to.
Because I got there after everyone was gone, (except you and Jay), I didn't get to see the DRAGGING of the car. I'm hoping somebody has pics/vids. (I saw Idok's post) .

It is also my understanding that nobody sunk or got towed throughout the ride....except a magnum (towed, almost sunk).

Not making fun of it, Mike....Even you said that it was ironic.

Hey, I had two great days of skiing out of it. Nobody got hurt, no skis went boom or sank, so it was still a good weekend (plus an unplanned Monday vacation day.)

I opened the rear door so it was unlocked at some point, but there was no excuse for having both sets of keys on the front seat. I gave one set to the tow truck driver when he was trying to get it out of park but I should have put the other set in my pocket. Luckily I had just pulled my overnight bag out so I didn't have to borrow any underwear from Manny.

We wouldn't have to poke a hole for your tail.....but they might have been a bit snug. lol.
