Want To Shorten Hull

I have a 97 RN and i want to shorten the back 3"

I was just looking at the hull and making some lines and measurments to cut but i cant seem to get the lines right.
I think i am over thinking it.

I want to angle cut it as well not straight cut.
Can somone chime in with some info on the proper lines to cut.

Def use a tape measure, then laser if you want perfect lines. It helps to have the cut be as flat as possible when you are putting a cap over the open hull hole to lay glass back onto.

Cut twice...measure once!

Make sure you have a beer or two in you as well.
Can't go wrong with that advice! I'm on that line of should I shorten my SN or not, have the try all cut out and defoamed so if it's ever going to happen it's now only thing I don't know what I would do is the exhaust tube.....

Thats where i am at not
tray is opened up and defoamed.
Out in colorado for work so i will see what i end up doing when i get back.

If i decide to takle it i will write up how i did it

I cut 4 inches off and did it with the tray still intact. (not much fun but doable) If you already have it open, it's a no brainer. I'll probably never NOT shorten an SJ hull in the future while defoaming. Love the way it handles. Rips turns on a dime compared to stock IMO.

Does anyone else care to chime in on the pros and cons of a shortened SJ hull?
