I'm curious about that too...I have an Expedition, and it does pretty well in relatively soft sand, but I'm a little nervous...

Dont worry about it. The sand is packed down in a road, so you will get where you need to go. There always plenty of guys around to help push, and the lifeguards have pickups to pull you out if ya need. I got stuck last year, only took a handfull of guys to help push and my 4runner (2wd) was back rollin.

I didn't know they made 2wd 4runners until that day.

We have a 15 passenger 1 ton Chevy van and a boat trailer converted to haul skis so it takes a little more than some strong dudes to get it moving if it thinks about diggin in. Two years ago you could drive around on the beach lke you were in a paved lot but last year it wasn't that friendly. It was basically off limts to the long wheelbase van.

I heard we may have some kind of rack or slide to get the skis over the turtle zone and onto the wall this year?? :purr:

Pete ,Pat said he is getting there around noon Wednesday so it's just me and you for Tuesday and Wednesday morning .We leave the trailer in the lot and just drive the van over on the sand .

I think because of the sheer weight we have on board it might not work .

4 ski's and trailer = 2000 lbs and
2 ski's inside = 650 lbs and tools and gear = tongue weight of probably 1000 lbs digging the back wheels into the sand .

the beach there is much better than last year... All that "red sand" has left and we are back to hard pack... I have two ramps that are 8ft wide that we will be using to get the skis from the hotel to the beach. The tide is always a factor though... at peak high, we won't be able to drive on the beach... no worries though...

you guys will be here tuesday?? danm, I'm not taking off till wed....

I'm trusting Slutty. I've never been there either and have a 2WD also, I'm worried about getting stuck with the trailer.

I'm not bringing the 5.0 ,I got a F150 now and as soon as it got in my driveway the x-h2o.com sticker went right on the tailgate.
