760 swap runs amazing, but the throttle is idle or rip your arms off.

I would love to ride a pumped machine like that, my wallet wouldn't though. My friends, 1500 is fun in a whole different way but is just so big and heavy, so riding something extra light with so much power would be awesome. To me the SJ feels like a skateboard and the SXR is kinda like a snowboard. Both super fun I can do both well enough but prefer a skateboard if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the tips waxhead I read a bunch of your tuning posts last night. I think I should start ordering some rebuild kits and some jets.

I just sold my SXI Pro, that was all top end and hated it, absolutely hated it. So that is definitely not what I am after.

What state do you ride in?

I'm in Tracy, California. Mostly Delta riding, some lakes. Tons of riders out here so far all super friendly. Feels like every other time I go out I get to ride a new ski. I smashed around in a super chicken a while back those things are wild.

Just for reference, my power delivery issues currently are using waxheads suggested reverse jetting. I'm actually about to try normal jetting just to see what happens.

I have been doing more reading. I have a game plan. Ready.....
Tune the carbs. As all the sites and instructions recommend. If for nothing else than peace of mind that it is functional optimally.

We will see if the recommended settings are where I end up. These carbs seem a bit more straight forward than the old 550 carbs. I am about to head out to see where my adjusters are set now, as for riding, it is super windy so maybe.

For SBN44s I would get the popoff near 25psi. Remember that twostrokes can run with very rich mixtures, they just lose power and sputter more. The low screw can be set perfectly out of the water, just close until rpm peaks and then open to slow it back down. Where it ends up is anyones guess. The pilots need to be large enough to make the engine slightly fourcycle at 1/4 throttle. You can install big pilots, it may respond better but will sputter more and use more gas. If 1/4 throttle is a clean twocycle then response will likely suffer. Around 1/2 throttle the engine will be on the pipe making near full power. Its best to go ahead and pin the throttle instead of holding 1/2-3/4, power wont change much but the mixture will be the most consistent. At this point the main jet and top screws need to be set a little rich of peak rpm for best reliability. You need a tachometer and smooth water to make this fine adjustment.

That's pretty good information. I treat the low speed as the everything jet. from there I trim with the high speed up top. We tune very similar. I tend to run the biggest low speeds the engine will handle and still pull cleanly, to get big low speeds in then I have run smaller highs. On a 44 carb if the total jetting does not work out about 240 or close to it then I am starting to look for other issues

Well shoot, according to the chart I should be somewhere around 20psi, thought having the screws so far out it was high. Maybe just going to the bigger low speed jet would even it out. Not sure If I want to invest in a pop off gauge yet. Not going to get out to do any detailed testing today.

The pop off pressure is what determines when the. Low speed jet start to flow. If one carb has pop off different from the other. You will never be able to tune it right

Well turns out I already have that exact pump the mikuni kit uses and I ripped it apart. I can swap out the gauge easily. So I have a 300 psi gauge I will grab a 30 and if I need higher it should only be $5-$10 bucks.
