Penguin's RN build

I've finally started working on this ski.

it is an 06 hull that came from Virgin Waterworks sans title. Tubbies, scupper and bondline reinforcing were already completed when I got it.

so - in the past few weeks, I've sandblasted the cases, mounting plates, and flywheel cover.

Today I painted them with Zinc Chromate Primer and PJ1 case paint.

right now, I've gotten the hull turtled and hanging in the garage so I can reinforce the handlepole mount area.

Glad to see you working on a new ski. Will it be ready for the upcoming TX ride?

How should I enlarge your pictures? They don't seem to enlarge at all.

I'm fairly certain it will not be done in time for LSFR, but I may bring it down there if I need install help on anything since some many "willing" people will be around

I think getting it painted is what is going to keep it from being ready. both time and money are against me right now.

I think to see the full size pics - you have to go to my gallery.

Come on Penguin....don't let the paint stop you. You can be the #3 unpainted SJ eyesore down there! I know mine and Wayne's won't be painted in time...BUT ON THE WATER!!!
Look at it this way....after you smash it up in the surf, you won't have to "re-paint"!

oh lord...I hope you didn't touch any body parts:icon16:

nope - just the fingers. Luckily I had checked US Composites site and read that acetone would dissolve the foam as long as you clean it up before it cures. So acetone was on standby. I'm about to pour a bit more foam, I'll wear gloves this time.

this is a bare hull - no turf on it. so I don't want to turf it for 1 weekend, then rip it off to paint.

1st round of foaming around the mount area:

I've got to make another batch of foam to fill in some small areas, and I'm going to go farther forward with it I think.

Polyurethane foam is some nasty shiot. It pretty much sticks to and stains anything it comes in contact with. An old work van that I used to have ran through some of the urethane resin that was spilled by a tanker truck. It got all over the body behind the front wheel and the only way to fix it was to sand it off and repaint. The boss did not want to fix it so it looked like I had a run through the mud from then on.

A tip: use acetone like you would use liquid soap - with water. Then put some hand lotion on your paws.
