Frankenstein motor? positives and neg?

What's wrong with a frankenstein motor? They have there place. I put a 61Xbottom with a 62T top into a vxr and it rocks! :biggrin:

My 760 cylinder is a 62t... says so right in between the cylinders. I think they just called the 62t a 64x if it's a 84mm bore.

That 62T is a bored out 701 then. Not a true 760. (Little actual difference)

I know the port timing is the same, but what about the width and what not?

Actually the sleeves are the same diameter in the aluminum casting from the 62T 701 and 64X or 62T 760 cylinders but the bottom skirts are a bit thinner on the 62T 701 cylinders.

The 62T 701 cylinder can be safely bored to about 84.5 or 85mm without any problems and the port timing is identical to the 760 cylinder.

Also the OEM 760 sleeves will drop right into the 62T 701 cylinder.

Depends on the condition of the aluminum casting and if it's ported or not.

Port timing is 2mm higher on the 62t i believe - take some capilers from the top of the ex port to the head surface.

Um..... that doesn't make very much sense. If 61x cylinders are good, then based on what you just said 61x=62t, and 64x has higher port timing

And I just went out and looked again at my motor.... it has the same stamp as yours on the intake side, and on the bottom at the base on the exhaust side, it is stamped with 62T.

its sort of a joke.

there are some 62T 701 cylinders out there with the same sleeves as a 61x cylinders, they are generally cheaper than 61x cylinders, because everyone goes around saying " 62t cylinders SUCK!"

I like cheap cylinders.

Save your money and get T cases with 61X cylinders, its a killer package. 61X cases are very restrictive. Off the topic a little, I do have a 62T cylinder ported by group k and is at 83mm bore if any ones interested.
