I have not got any spam emails and I have been signed up for quite a while now. Neither have any of the people I know that are voting for the picture. It is a local magazine/newspaper company to me and i doubt they will send any spam.
The very first time it does make you set up an account. Kind of a pain, I know. But once you set it up you don't have to sign back in to vote for the 2nd time, 3rd, 4th, etc. Since you can vote once a day.
Let's go guys! Take a few minutes to expose a few new people to stand ups. I would've thought this thread would explode with positive comments and votes. Get the votes in. Only 18 behind!
At one point the picture was behind by 50+ votes. Now its down by about 35 but that means its gaining! Lets blow this competition out of the water!!!!!
I need your help!! A few months ago a family member submitted a picture of me riding my superjet to a local magazine. There is a competition to get on the front cover of the magazine. There were over 80 entries submitted and i made it into the finalists (top 15). It would be great to get this...
I know the threads old. But I am really wondering what you thought of the motor? Is it worth building for someone on a budget? Was it reliable? What kind of power was it comparable to?
I'm in the exact same boat. I want to modify a square and make a mold. From what I've found so far you'll want to be in the 50-60oz range for your hull thickness. As for the mold I haven't found anything. But I would imagine you want it fairly rigid, but not so rigid that you can't torque it...
You may have to do the hard to reach areas by hand. Once its completely stripped shoot a coat of primer on it. Block it out. Shoot another coat of primer. Block it out. Once theres no low spots and no fiberglass is showing. Its ready to paint. Id go to a paint store or a marine shop to see what...
Dont hesitate to use one. They work very well. I built one with my dad and we have never had a problem. We actually put a hitch receiver on the end of the carrier so you can tow the boat trailer too. Works well so we dont have to take two cars on family trips to the lake. If you have a wire...
I think the composites would with stand the heat of the engine. The problem is 2 stroke expansion chambers have a ton of math and science that go into them. So unless youve really done your homework. The odds of you NOT losing power is slim, let alone make more power than the stock exhaust...
Joining the two halves is a big part of reinforcing. Makes it much stronger. Be sure to fill the bond line with some thickened epoxy and sand it flush with the two halves of the hull to get the carbon to lay flat with no air bubbles.
Looks like he has plenty of material on that list. The only things I would change is the epoxy thickener. I used micro balloons from uscomposites.com. the only reason why I recommend those is because I used them and they worked great (dont be afraid to really thicken it up. It wont hurt...
I have hood straps so i dont think the hood hooks will be an issue will they? And i was just planning on running to stock mounts till one broke. Then i was going to replace them. Ill have to keep a watchful eye on them though. I suppose if all the mounts broke the motor could clear the coupler...
Yeah i know the stock mounts are crap. I did put kenny keepers on though so that should by me some more time though. Im more worried about cracking part of the hull or hood....
Yeah the v wake should be big, at least i know its doable. Will it hurt my ski at all though with the way i reinforced? And will the stock hood hold up to pancaking off a v wake?
Ive heard the kickers are very uncomfortable although i have never tried them. I went with the tom 21 footholds that accept 25mm pad on the top and bottom. I think ill like these because ill be able to shape the foam how i want it. I did have to modify them a little to get them to fit...
Hey guys this winter i reinforced my sj for some flat water barrel roll attempts. I filled the bond line. Did a 7 inch layer of 1708 biax down the bond line. Then I did a layer that covered the whole side from under the hood seal down to the bottom of the ski. Then i reinforced under the pole...
