Can anyone give me instructions for the install of a primer kit on an 88 650sx with a stock carb. Want to make sure I know what Im getting myself into so I have all the materials and tools at the ready. Thanks.
So I needed a ride plate for my 650sx to stop porpoising, when i received the plate and examined it and found it to be slightly bent at the rear end. Should i be worried about this? help
Is anyone going to ride Hurricane Irene? I think it would be better to go out pre or post storm (for safetys sake.) Maybe even stay in the Rivers and Bay. I know there will be a small craft advisory probably starting Friday Night from storm surge. Anyone have expierence in these conditions?
Picked up the '88 650sx last week. Took it out all saturday. Got up fine on it. Takes some time getting used to it. It porpoises once I get to planing speed. I got manuevering down and everything is working out fine. Just got to start logging some hours on it. It ran fine engine wise. Makes an...
A bunch of us are taking the boat and the new ski out this weekend. Ill be either at the ski zone, goose island or the creek across from Glebe bay. Probably Goose Island since there isnt a no wake zone there. Blue-White Sea-Ray 240 with a waketower and the ski somewhere around it. Do you ever...
Also there is a crack half way up to the right of the gas tank lid. Should I be worried about this? I was told it is just a crack in the gelcoat and can be easily repaired. Any suggestions would be great.
First is I live in MD, am i required to have insurance on my ski? second is there a lanyard kill switch conversion for a '88 650sx? I tried ebay and the web and could'nt come up with a clear answer. Lastly is there an aftermarket skirt I could get to replace the aged and cracked stock one. Im...
Yeah i would think the one with the bigger motor would be the one I would want to go with. I didnt know if there was something about having a newer ski or not. Thanks for the help.
You guys are awesome for helping me, I really appreciate it and will ask for help in the future. All superjets aside (because Im probably going to end up buying one) if I had the choice between a '88 JS650sx and a '90 550sx which should I go with?
Im going to go with the 550sx. Its not a big investment and I dont have to wait a year trying to find the perfect condition SJ or 750. In the meantime I can get up and learn how to manuever and play around a little. Any suggestions as to which 750 to go with? From the comments about starting...
My budget at the moment is no more than 1000. I have found two offers: a '88 650sx with unknown condition for $550 and a '90 550sx in pristine condition for $500. Both being 20+ year old machines I dont want to gamble on having a ski in good condition so knowing all the seals and rubber grommets...
Im getting it for 500 and its in pristine condition. Im only going to be riding in the river following around our boat basically. I then plan on moving on to something bigger next year. I understand what you are all saying about enough power to do everything I could possibly do with it. So...
Im just wanting to get up and learn the basics and jump some wakes with it. Basically master controlling and playing around with it then move on to something bigger. So this will work?
Im purchasing a '90 550sx. It is my first stand up. Im a big guy 6'2" 265. I have stood up and rode someone elses but do not know the model. I remember it had a stock bilge on it and was a early 90s model. Am I going to have trouble riding and jumping it or will I be alright starting out on this...
Im assuming the valve is a OEM replaceable part? And Ill be riding it in South River mainly, a tributary to the Chesapeake Bay, so I wont have a problem premixing. From what I know so far the thing is stock. Ill convert it in the off season after making sure everything is working correctly. Its...
Ill find a compression meter to test the compression. So the crankcase block off will block the oil pump so I will be able to just premix the fuel? Is this necessary? Can i run the ski w/o it at first?
I am about to purchase an '88 650sx and was wondering what to look out for specifically? Like are there any serious red flags? I know its terrible but based on his and my distance from each other I was going to meet him halfway. I figured Id visually inspect it for internal and external damages...
