SX/SXi/SXi Pro Some questions

First is I live in MD, am i required to have insurance on my ski? second is there a lanyard kill switch conversion for a '88 650sx? I tried ebay and the web and could'nt come up with a clear answer. Lastly is there an aftermarket skirt I could get to replace the aged and cracked stock one. Im talking about the rubber lining around the hull.

IMG_1739.jpgAlso there is a crack half way up to the right of the gas tank lid. Should I be worried about this? I was told it is just a crack in the gelcoat and can be easily repaired. Any suggestions would be great.

congrats on the ski.. now go ride.

You can add a kill switch from a later 750 sx/i kawi but not sure the exact years they started coming standard. I'd say just run it like that and don't let go of the ski when you fall off, or worst case it'll idle in circles until you can get back to it. You could also turn down the idle to have it die when separated from it.

the crack doesn't look anything bad, but you'll have to see from the inside or under the nose piece to tell for sure.

As for the rails, leave them be or take them off. I started on a 650sx and only kept the nose rail and tail corners on. imo it looked better.

Outside of that I'd say just ride and fight the temptation to sink anymore money into it. every $.10 invested is $.10 lost, figure out if you're into these things then start saving for your next ski (SJ).

Hey Man, I live in the same town, The answer to question one, no you do not need insurance, I would recommend it, but the DNR isn't taking you to jail if you dont have it. Looks like answer to question 2 above, question 3 just turf over it, you can cut a sheet of turf to match stock colors, it looks better, and adds padding to a part of the ski that can tear you up if you land on it! Ive split my shins wide open before on my "starter ski" that didn't have turfed rails. We ride every weekend Around the area if you wanna ride with some orther peeps.

A bunch of us are taking the boat and the new ski out this weekend. Ill be either at the ski zone, goose island or the creek across from Glebe bay. Probably Goose Island since there isnt a no wake zone there. Blue-White Sea-Ray 240 with a waketower and the ski somewhere around it. Do you ever hit up the South River boat partys?
