Hells naw! haha. I only go up there when I have to, or to go to some swanky coffee or beer place. I live down in Evergreen, but wouldn't mind moving up to Summit County (Doesn't everyone want to live up there? lol).
I've been around the state a bit now and realize there's some potential for...
Oh man some angry post readers here - but also some inspired folks! Gotta take the good with the bad! haha. I'll be traveling back east at the end of July - I'm hoping to take inventory and figure out where this project stands - I have a buddy that is willing to help finish it, but I can't...
Lol - I've definitely heard that of boulder. I'm just working in that area and hoping to find something within an hour driving distance (I'll also be working in Broomfield on certain days it looks like).
If I take this hull out to boulder it's getting finished though!
If anyone on the EAST...
Status update:
Moving to Colorado - Boulder area haha.
This thing might make it out there - maybe not. I will probably end up buying something out there though - Lake Granby offer's some riding and I'm sure there's plenty others nearby.
If anyone want's to buy this hull - well if you're...
Is there anyone on here that could recommend a region in the Rockies that offers good river/pond/lake jet skiing?
I'm looking to move out west from Brooklyn shortly here and want to re-kindle my love affair with the jet pump. Currently I have lived in Brooklyn for about a year, and while fun...
Paint's all done!!
Gonna try and pick it up from the shop this weekend and reacquaint myself with this project and what parts I need haha. Now that I have full time Access to a 3D printer I might try printing my bushings for steering and poop lol. (full time access to a lathe would be a hell of...
kwakhead - You finished yours? I didn't see it in your thread? Too busy riding? lol
Everyone else - It (Just the hull and hood) should actually be done painting and clear coated this weekend. That's what happens when you pay someone to help you haha.
-For the most part I haven't been anywhere...
They certainly are a pain! Don't forget - before this project (and as stated in the first couple posts) I too was an amateur. Just have a go at it and read a lot! Not much new in my build, just a lot of cherry pickin'
Lol - Currently I live about 120 miles from where this hull is being stored, and I have no car as I live in NYC and owning a car is hell on wheels.
It's not going to waste don't worry - All in good time!
Jacorey - Total hull weight (hood, hull and first paint coat) is close to 100lbs. not as light as I'd of hoped, it's going to be primarily pushed as a surf cruiser and just general fun ski, I don't intend or even care if it can do backflips at this point haha.
550sx - Thanks man - I appreciate...
I really hit a wall when I moved to Brooklyn this summer. I got the final coat of color on - after re-priming it. It looks pretty good but still need to put the seal coat on to finish it off. Doubt I'll be able to get it on the water this summer - but you never know! Kinda bummed but still got...
Lol I said it a few times - it's DayGlo's Saturn Yellow
You can buy it here:
http://www.dayglostore.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=129
But I'm sure it's sold cheaper other places like eBay - I think I bought mine there. I need to buy another quart too now that I think about it!
And on the 405th day, there was COLOR!!!
Well I got to finally apply the DayGlo Saturn Yellow paint on the hull. Holy :-):-):-):-)... What have I done!??!?!?
This paint is fairly transparent - as all fluorescents are I imagine. I've had this issue before - where if the base coat underneath...
Must... Finish... Soon!!!
Well I got good news, but bad news for this thing getting done on an expedited schedule lol - Got a job offer in the good ol city of NYC. Most likely will be living harry potter style for a few months when I move up there - but I'll be able to save up some money...
30 days until I graduate from this alternate form of a "Break Out Another Thousand" aka college lol. Hopefully I'll have time to finish it up then. It's killin me to not have it finished believe me!! lol.
I think it was ScottS - He used 5 layers of 1208 for his bond rails which I used a similar method of layup to. I either used 2X 1708 and 3X 1208... or 3X 1708 and 2X 1208 - it's been a while since I did it so I forget (you can check my thread it probably says there lol).
Basically I figured I...
Nice! I went with 3 layers of 1708 on top and 2 layers of 1208 on the bottom and the rails are stiff as :-):-):-):-). I wish I would have bought 90% of my biax without the matting though... SOOOO much extra resin infusion AKA weight.
