This weekend, i'm going to inspect the flywheel, and woodruff key. Hopefully it solves my issue. (I wanna ride dammit!) I will post updates as i go along.... and when i finally get it fixed. hopefully other dudes/dudettes can benefit from my findings. i appreciate the replies guys!

Sweet! thanks for that link, now i have an idea of what i'm looking for. BTW, the exhaust feels strong on my hand. I took the rubber exhaust pipe (that runs right past the carbs) off the ski and everything seems ok. i looked into the hull exhaust with a flashlight, no problems there too.

The ski did backfire VERY loudly the first time it started this season, it was out of the water I thought maybe i did one too many primes and the fuel blew. It also backfires occasionally while cranking. Black smoke come out, then resumes to white/blue-ish smoke. You may be right about this...

Rollin5150, I think you are right, it doesn't sound like a timing issue, idle is perfectly fine. Thumper, I don't block off the exhaust during the off season (maybe i should). My place is rat free, besides, the water box has been taken out of the ski and cleaned over the winter.

Just finished cleaning the carbs (including the filters). there was very little gunk in there, that didn't fix the issue. The carb screws have not been touched, they are set according to the Dry Pipe setup. The jetting is clean on both carbs. I checked the fuel pick-up inside the fuel tank...

If the timing was shot, would it idle fine? or would it have idling problems as well? because as it sits now, idle is fine, just throttle application poops out.

I only looked at one of the jets in one of the carbs. It was free and clear of debris. i will clean 'em up but doesn't fuel take years to gum up? I did put in some fuel stabilizer prior to the winter.

is it easy to take out? is it cleanable or does it need replacement? I do have a Dry Pipe, never seen a sensor on it

Hey guys, semi-noob here I need some opinions, I modded my stock SXR waterbox for more flow. more flow is always good right??? well...not treally! I drilled 1 inch holes in a few strategic places (like the PWC.com SXR waterbox mod) I put it in my SXR... and now it runs like crap. I guess...

Hey all, I'm new here. I'm also on the path to a lighter SXR. I'm wondering how to mount the CDI to the firewall. I took it off and took off the bracket but i see no mounting points on the firewall itself. did you guys drill through the hull??? Can anyone post pics of how they did theirs.
