The first time I broke a key it backfired through the exhaust. Now with the second key broken its not yet

Before I send my 701 crank to crankworks to be inspected because it keeps breaking timing keys after 5 or 6 start ups. Could a flywheel also cause of timing key to break? I'm just going through my option before i tear down this motor over such an annoying issue:splatt:

Besides the flywheel being loose what could also cause a keyway to sheer off? Its a 701 61x. Very little riding since the rebuild.

My buddy doug who built this ski was nice enough to check it out today for me. He found the Timing key was sheared off and the pop off pressure was a little low. Everything is getting fixed this week and hopefully back on the water real soon!
