1990 Superjet 701 61x Flooded.......

I started the ski up 3 weeks ago and had no issues after it had not been run since it was winterized. I took it for a ride all day last week and it ran flawlessly. A couple days ago I filled it up with mix gas and left it. We went to go ride it a few day later and it was flooded. After messing around with it for a few I stopped and let it sit. Today I put a rag over the spark plug holes and ran it trying to get all the fuel out the cylinders. I checked spark as well which seemed good as well. After puting the old spark plugs back in the ski would turn over and then make a clicking sound and wouldn't start.......check the video and let me know what you think. Carbs may be coming off too so I can check the need and seat.

thanks

The video doesn't really explain much other than your cranking attempts are very short. If you truly believe it's flooded, I've always had luck with just pulling the spark plugs and shooting the excess out of the spark plug holes for a few seconds. Then I'll blow on the plugs, wipe them off, pop them back in, and it fires right up.

If you have spark, compression, and fuel... The engine will start. Even if there is some excess fuel, it should still start.

If you say the engine turns over for a few attempts and then just clicks, it sounds like the battery is dead. If that's true, I'm betting your battery load is too high to produce both cranking and a strong enough spark.

That could very very well be it.. I'm gonna put a charger on the battery tomorrow. Thanks for the reply!

Sounds like it is.

try new plugs, even though they spark when outside the cylinder that doesn't nessecarely mean that they are ok.

Battery doesn't sound week to me either?

My buddy doug who built this ski was nice enough to check it out today for me. He found the Timing key was sheared off and the pop off pressure was a little low. Everything is getting fixed this week and hopefully back on the water real soon!
