03 Gp 800r cylinders/Nikasil plating

Anyone try after market cylinders, new ones from Yamaha have a longer wait time then i would like.

And it seems they can’t really bore out the cylinders due to the coating it has on it, and that’s around 300 to hone and adding Nikasil plating. Thanks.

I have them replated by Millennium technologies , US chrome also does them , sometimes they have them in stock ready to ship with their cylinder exchange program , barring that used cylinder with good plating work just fine.

The waveeater clips are ok if you are not disassembling and cleaning the power valves but they are not great , these are a better option. IMHO :

Thanks WFO Speedracer! I have not seen those before. Do you know of any good documentation on how to clean the power valves? Not dove into them before, and machine is sitting at 90 hours.

pull them out and wire brush them off , anything that will get the carbon off , there are other methods but none that are nearly as fast.

In case anybody is wondering, I've used quite a few NEW cylinders from WSM over the last few years without any issues.
