Super Jet 07 SJ re-foam

Ok, my foam is waterlogged because the previous owner of the ski installed the footholds incorrectly and said they were "professionally" installed. they were not glassed and the tray wasnt sanded before glass and turf so obviously the previous owner was clueless. Anyways I have been searching around the X for refoam threads and have found a few helpful ones but i still have questions. I was thinking of going the polyestrine route. I have never done glasswork before. so how much glass and what type should i use and how much polyestrine do i need? do i just use the same epoxy resin and hardener that is in the footholds FAQ thread? ive been looking on u.s. composites looking around and there is a west marine right up the road from me incase i needsupplies any tips or advice is much appreciated as im 14 lol. here are some pics<br>

If its of any interest to you, I "beer pong balled" my brother in laws Octane. I estimated 30 pounds of additional weight in the tray from that wet junk, you could hear it sloshing around in there. Its been 18 months now and I'm completely satisfied with the balls. Unfortunately despite our best efforts to seal all possible leak points from the inside out and outside in, it does still take on water albeit at a much slower rate, say a shot glass after a full days ride, but at least this way there is nothing to absorb the water, and with the addition of a drain plug it just runs out from between the balls. Thankfully my RN is dry as a bone but i recommend the balls for simplicity and clean job

I just installed footholds on my superjet. Ive re-foamed a couple skis. I would love to help but you are pretty far (4 hour drive). If you have any questions you can text me 616-648-4771. I used west marines's "west systems 105 and 205 epoxy and hardener and 12oz glass sheet. Worked great. We should ride sometime next year.

Probably 80 hrs into it, including carbon and glass work. It has been well worth it, but like I said it still leaked. I used a PWC doctor drain and now its always bone dry. I will most likely buy an aftermarket hull next as I feel its not worth it, I think I spent a grand doing it.

i dont understand how it leaks if you glass the poop out of it? am i missing something? Where would the water come in?

My guess is it leaks from the deck bond line in an area where (after assembly) someone cant get resin applied to. For instance above the pump tunnel at the rocker, the only time to properly seal that area would have been at the time the halves were joined. I understand the disbelief, but so many , myself included have spent hours and hours sealing that area only to find water after the first ride. I got lucky though, my RN is still dry- but one day i know its going to let water in
